Police officials partnered with CNUSD to conduct an Active Shooting Training at Norco High School.

Norco– On Monday, July 22 to Thursday, July 25, an Active Shooter Training took place at Norco High School. Jurupa Valley Station patrol and investigative personnel partnered with the Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) to prepare and create a plan of action if an active shooter was ever on campus.

“The Jurupa Valley Station and the Corona-Norco Unified School District are committed to the safety of our students, faculty, and community,” stated a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The Jurupa Valley Station Training Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, and Special Enforcement Team facilitated the 4-day training which consisted of “realistic, close-range, lethal and non-lethal scenarios simulating an active shooter event,” according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. “Under simulated stress, the scenarios created a positive training environment and helped department members strengthen the critical skills needed to respond to and effectively operate during such an event.”

The Jurupa Valley Station issued a statement to thank the following allied entities for their participation in the 4-day training: Riverside Community College District Police Department (Norco College), Perris Station, Robert Presley Detention Center, Smith Correctional Facility, and the Norco High School administrative staff.  

In addition, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said, “anyone making threats or reports of violence against any of [the CNUSD] schools will be thoroughly investigated and held accountable for their actions.”
