Walnut – You’re a busy person with a lot to do.  You need a car wash, an oil change, a haircut, and you haven’t even had lunch yet.  You could run all over town trying to get all of this done, or you could get it all done at one stop: Alamo Car Wash and Detail Center.

Dan Gerstner and his wife, Sylvia, opened Alamo more than 18 years ago, and they have run the business with a simple philosophy ever since.

“Our philosophy is to always have satisfied customers. We want them to be satisfied with what we do here, and 99.9 percent of the time, they are,” Gerstner said.

Situated in a four-acre complex at the corner of Nogales and Francesca Drive in Walnut, Alamo features a hand car wash, a Mobil gas station and an Xpress Lube oil change center, as well as restaurants, a beauty salon, dentist’s office, locksmith and a bookkeeping service.

“We even have a shoeshine guy.  It’s really a one-stop shop,” Gerstner said.

Alamo offers full-service hand car washes and detailing, which includes waxing, buffing and interior cleaning; as well as an express wash – just $6.95 – for people on the go.  And now is the perfect time to get your vehicle vacation-ready for summer with an oil change and detailing to help protect against the high temperatures.

Asked why people should visit Alamo instead of other area car washes, Gerstner said, “I don’t know what other car washes do, but I know what we do. We’re very picky about service and the little details. And usually, when the car comes out, it’s cleaner than it’s ever been.”

Package washes are popular, Gerstner said, especially the Silver Package Wash.  It includes an air freshener, sealer wax, polish wax, rainbow wax, clear coat sealant and Armor-All on the tires.

“If people need something at the last minute, like greeting cards, we have a wide selection they can choose from while they’re waiting for their car.  We also carry just about any kind of auto accessory you might need,” Gerstner said.  And, a multi-wash book is a great gift for anyone with a car.

Alamo’s oil change service is also extremely popular, and runs just $30.99.

“Our quick lube service is very complete and includes transmission, power steering, brake fluid, cooling system and fuel emissions services.  Plus, oil change customers receive a free car wash.

Gerstner admits that Alamo is not the cheapest place to have your car washed or serviced, but maintains that the services they offer make them competitive with just about anybody else.

“We offer a higher level of service than many other places, and that’s why we’ve been so successful.  People love their cars – their car is like their baby. We see customers who come in twice a week, and their cars look clean, but they still want them washed here,” Gerstner explained.

  • List Your Medications: Include prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, vitamin supplements and herbal medicines.
  • Give a Complete Health History: If it’s a first time visit, you will need to fill out forms regarding your health history. Prepare a written health history to use in completing your forms and keep a copy on hand for future use.

Rivera sells houses, condos, and two- to four-unit investment properties in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. He also does real estate appraisals for banks, estates, taxes, trusts, divorces, attorneys, refinances, and home purchases.  Rivera also has assistants that work with him who are fluent in Spanish and Chinese, which helps him to reach people of different dialects all over Southern California.

Rivera is in his 21st year of business and he has sold homes in 26 different cities throughout Southern California, so his coverage area is expansive.

Rivera’s philosophy is to “treat my clients the way I want to be treated.” In fact, Rivera said that he became a Realtor because he did not like the way his Realtor treated him when he was buying his home. Rivera shows respect for his clients at all times. He listens to what they say, so that he can better serve them.

Rivera also does not push his Buyers into a sale. Rivera said, “I always tell Buyers: ‘You will know right away when we walk into the house that’s meant for you.’ Whether it takes a week or months, my Buyers will always be satisfied with their purchase and never pressured into it.”

Rivera’s Sellers love the fact that he offers a discounted commission, but with full service. Rivera offers a 4% Total Commission for Sellers, which includes 2.5% to the Buyer’s Agent and 1.5% to Rivera’s office. Most Realtors negotiate a 6% commission because they have to split the fees with their brokerage. But, Rivera passes on the savings to the Seller. This will save Sellers thousands of dollars in commission fees.

Eastvale – The grand opening of the long-awaited Eastvale San Antonio Medical Plaza is upon us.  With very few medical service options available in Eastvale, and the closest hospital nearly ten miles away, this new Medical Plaza is a welcome addition to the area.

As a satellite facility for San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland, the Eastvale San Antonio Medical Plaza will provide key medical services, including a much needed urgent care center – San Antonio Urgent Care at Eastvale.  Outpatient diagnostics such as laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, 3-D mammograms, and EKG testing are also available.  Several physician suites are on site with a variety of primary and specialty care physicians.

San Antonio Regional Hospital is known for its excellent services and high quality care, and the new Eastvale Plaza joins Rancho San Antonio Medical Plaza in Rancho Cucamonga and Sierra San Antonio Medical Plaza in Fontana as part of the hospital’s network of care.

Inland Empire – When Daniel started his carpet cleaning business six years ago, he had to get insurance. So he did, and he faithfully paid his premiums every month. Unfortunately, Daniel’s business was burglarized, but he had no need to worry; he was fully covered and he had never missed a payment in nearly six years.  Then Daniel found out some very disturbing news.

Daniel’s insurance company gladly filed his claim. The reports were all in order and the estimate of $16,839 was right in line with specifications. But Daniel only received a check for $3,000.  He had no idea his policy coverage for theft or fire had a limit of $3,500, with a $500 deductible.

“It’s common for a business, especially a small business, to be under-insured,” said Grace Buencamino, a longtime broker at George L. Brown Insurance. “You need a proactive agent who will periodically go over your coverage with you to ensure your business is adequately covered.”

Buencamino also points out that it’s not always the client’s fault for not knowing their policy limits.

“Sometimes a business will outgrow their coverage,” she says.  “I’ve seen businesses who thought they had adequate coverage. The business owner didn’t realize that after five years, the company had acquired more equipment, increasing their Business Property from $3,000 to $20,000. To avoid my clients being under-insured, I do an annual review of their policy. Changes in Business Property can be discovered during this review and the policy limits can be changed at very little cost.”

Buencamino also said that by working closely with the business owner, she can get a better understanding of their needs and work with them to limit their exposures. She encourages clients to contact her if they make any changes to their business that may affect their current coverage.

Eastvale – A new fitness opportunity is coming to Eastvale, and the New York Times is calling it the best one-hour workout in the country.

Orangetheory Fitness will be opening soon, and owner, Todd Randall, is excited to share his passion for fitness with the community.

“First, surround yourself with great people who are passionate about the goal.  Next, only run teams that you’re willing to be personally invested in.  The rest mostly takes care of itself.”

What Randall is expounding on is success.  Orangetheory’s group training approach is based on science, using a heart rate monitor to inspire performances.  Because they focus specifically on getting each student into their “Orange Zone,” a spike in metabolism occurs that lasts 24 to 36 hours after the session is completed.  This “after-burn” has given Orangetheory quite the reputation for burning calories.

Randall, who has 26 years of experience in the healthcare and fitness industries, didn’t always make his own health a priority.  As a bureaucrat for one of the largest companies in the country, he was good at his job, but he wasn’t taking care of himself, or his family, the way he wanted to.  That all changed for the better with Orangetheory.

“Not everyone has the option of changing careers mid-life,” says Randall.  “This is my way of helping people take a little bit better care of themselves, whatever their schedule is.  If they only have a few hours a week to invest in fitness, it really has to count.”

Randall says it’s not his own expertise that is the most relevant to Orangetheory.  He has surrounded himself with a team of trainers and managers that have competed in the highest levels of collegiate sports, and have nutrition, fitness and medical certificates.  And even though there are three professional athletes on staff, all personal trainers are required to have nationally recognized certification, making not only fitness, but safety and well-being, their priorities.

Orangetheory is also invested in the community.  They support the American Cancer Society and are sponsoring the upcoming Relay for Life Walk on Apr. 18.  Some of the trainers and staff are even participating in JCSD’s Biggest Loser event, to be held Apr. 20 to June 22.
