A vehicle that was impeding traffic was spotted by the California Highway Patrol on a routine patrol on Fairway Dr. and the 60 Freeway at 8:18 am on August, 24, 2017. Officers stopped the vehicle and upon contact with the driver, noticed a handgun holstered on the suspect’s hip. The suspect claimed that he was a security guard.
The suspect has been identified as Alejandro Raygoza, a 25 year old of the City of La Verne. Raygoza could face up to 1 year in county jail.
Reygoza provided an ID which he claimed was his, but deputies discovered upon questioning that the ID was actually the suspects brother’s. The suspect was not licensed to carry firearms.
The driver was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm and search of the vehicle yielded two loaded handguns, one shotgun, an expandable baton, pepper spray, four magazines, and a security guard badge.
Bail was set at $35,000 but with the help of a bail reduction personnel, the suspect was able to convince the commissioner to authorize a bail reduction to $25,000.
Raygoza paid the bail via bail bond and was released on the same day, August 24, at 11:45pm. Raygoza will be arraigned at Pomona Superior Court on October 24, 2017.
