Brandon Plott Appointed on Council

Brandon Plott

Eastvale – At the June 23 City Council meeting, Brandon Plott was unanimously appointed to fill the vacant City Council seat due to Councilmember Ike Bootsma passing away last month. He will fill the position until the November 8, 2022 election results are certified. The remaining two years of the District 5 term will be up for a Special Election in November 2022.

Councilmember Plott previously served on the City Council from 2016 through 2020 and recently served as Mayor of the City of Eastvale in 2020.

During the 2020 election, Plott announced that he was not running for re-election because he was going to spend time with his family. However, after he was appointed at the June meeting, he clarified why he is more than willing to serve on the City Council now. On a social media post, he stated he was going through a foster to adopt process at the time of re-election, so he was uncertain of the time constraints of running a re-election campaign. Since then, he and his wife were “successful and blessed of fostering a new baby boy.” He has spent several months adjusting to the new addition to his family and stated, “I’m confident to dedicate my time to the City and to our Residents, while still spending quality time with the Family.” He added, “As always feel free to reach out to me if you have any question. I’m always available.”

At a Special City Council meeting on June 2, the City Council voted to open up an application period for anyone interested in being appointed to fill the District 5 Council seat. Applications were accepted until June 16, 2021 for those who were an Eastvale resident in District 5. Then the appointment was made on June 23.
