Eastvale—In the last month, there were a few crimes in the city of Eastvale. The information below is courtesy of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence Check Point

Date: December 16, 2023

Location: Eastvale

Details: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) / Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, December 16, 2023. The checkpoint was on Limonite Avenue and Cloverdale Marketplace, between the hours of 7:00 PM and 3:00 AM. The checkpoint yielded the following results:

  • 1,061 vehicles screened.
  • 5 Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs) conducted.
  • 2 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • 1 arrested for a miscellaneous misdemeanor.
  • 4 arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
  • 19 citations issued for driving without a driver’s license.
  • 6 vehicles were stored.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Sergeant Ignacio Robles said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Jurupa Valley Station reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Incident: Robbery Suspects Arrested

Date: November 21, 2023

Location: Eastvale

Details: On November 21, 2023, about 9:25 p.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a business, located in the 12000 block of Limonite Avenue, Eastvale regarding a robbery that occurred at a local grocery store.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect approached an employee inside the location and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect fled from the store to an awaiting white 4-door Volkswagen, which was occupied by another subject.

Deputies, with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, immediately conducted an extensive search for the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located in the 6000 block of Fairlane Avenue, Eastvale and two subjects believed to be involved in the robbery were located at a residence.

Sheriff’s Investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. A search warrant was served at a residence and evidence of the crime, including the majority of the stolen money, was recovered.

Investigators conducted multiple interviews, recovered additional evidence during this investigation, and ultimately arrested Charles Sanford, Jr., a 27 year-old resident of Rialto, and Elijah Tucker, a 26 year-old resident of San Bernardino for robbery and conspiracy. They were both booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
