Eastvale– In the last month, there were several incidents in the neighboring city of Jurupa Valley. This information is courtesy of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Incident: Homicide Investigation

Date: May 19

Location: Jurupa Valley

Details: On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at approximately 3:54 p.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a hospital in Riverside regarding a gunshot victim. Despite lifesaving measures, the victim, a 15-year-old male juvenile, was pronounced deceased.

Responding deputies interviewed witnesses at the hospital and located the crime scene in the 10100 block of Ben Nevis Boulevard in Jurupa Valley. Investigators from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, Central Homicide Unit, and the Coroner’s Bureau were notified and responded to the scene. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit assumed control of the investigation.

The victim’s name will not be released due to his age. This investigation is still ongoing, and no additional information will be released at this time.

Incident: Wanted – Attempt Murder

Date: May 14

Location: Jurupa Valley

Details: On Tuesday May 14, 2024, at 6:09 p.m., a Riverside Sheriff’s motor deputy attempted a traffic enforcement stop on Wineville Avenue and Limonite Avenue, Jurupa Valley. The vehicle failed to yield and entered a dirt access road adjacent to 68th Street, west of Pats Ranch Road, firing at the pursuing deputy before entering a dense foliage near the Jurupa Valley Santa Ana river bottom. During the pursuit, the subject abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction. The initial pursuing deputy did not sustain any injuries during the incident. Jurupa Valley Station Sheriff’s Investigators are looking for information that would assist in locating and arresting the subject. Incident: Fatal Traffic Collision

Date: April 28

Location: Jurupa Valley

Details: On April 28, 2024, at 11:08 a.m., deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call of a major injury traffic collision on Jurupa Road, east of Troth Street. Deputies, along with paramedics from Cal Fire, responded and located a severely injured pedestrian lying in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation, which is ongoing. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is still unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor. The pedestrian’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Jurupa Road between Troth Street and Marlatt Street to process the scene and collect evidence.
