Eastvale – So many new and exciting things are happening in the City of Eastvale.

The first Eastvale Little Free Libraries have been built and installed in the city. Over the past few days, volunteers from the Eastvale STEM Academy, the Eastvale Youth Council, and Mayor Jocelyn Yow gathered together to construct and install these free libraries. The Eastvale Chamber of Commerce, Target, The Friends of the Eastvale Library, and Amazon.com fulfillment center donated the books and coordinated this important initiative.

Also added to the Eastvale community are two new City employees: Cassandra Sanchez, Principal Engineer, and Jamie Cerda, Senior Planner. They were welcomed at the last City Council meeting.

In addition, the 2021 Eastvale State of the City is expected to be held on Thursday, October 7 at 6 pm at VantagePoint Church, located at 8500 Archibald Avenue. The City of Eastvale and the Eastvale Chamber of Commerce are holding this year’s event, with theme “Elevate Eastvale: Soaring to new heights”. The CommUNITY Honoree award will be presented at the State of the City as well. The CommUNITY Honoree award “recognizes the meaningful contributions an individual has made to the Eastvale community through volunteerism, acts of kindness, and active community participation, within the past 12 months,” stated a city news release.

After the 2021 State of the City, the Taste of Eastvale event will be back for local restaurants to come together and present their delicious food to the community. So stick around after the State of the City!

Another event that is coming to Eastvale is a six-week Leadership Academy beginning October 14. “The Eastvale Leadership Academy is an adopted action item of the City Council’s Strategic Plan that will help develop community champions and ambassadors through building relationships, connections, and understanding with the people, performance, and operations of the City of Eastvale,” according to a city news release. “This will be an in-depth, interactive, and behind-the-scenes experience with local government.”

The last event to take place in October will be the EEK!VALE Halloween event. On Saturday, October 23 from 3 pm to 10 pm, stop by 13200 Citrus St for a night of food, treats, music, crafts, games, art, and a maze.

Other exciting updates that were announced at the last City Council meeting included the Eleanor Roosevelt High School Band Ensemble being invited to perform at the California All-State Music Education Conference in February 2022. Only one or two high schools in the State are selected to perform each year, according to the City.

Shield 4 Kids also did a presentation to promote their mission to provide a backpack of essential supplies to abused children who are confronted with going into a new home.

Lastly, Eleanor Roosevelt High School student, Thomas Rife, was recognized for his many efforts in the City’s Roadway Adoption Program.
