Eastvale – In the last month, there were several incidents that took place in the City of Eastvale and City of Norco. The incidents are listed below, courtesy of the Riverside County Sheriff ’s Department.
INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
INCIDENT DATE: November 23, 2021
WHERE: Bellegrave Ave. and Jamestown Ave., Eastvale
DETAILS: On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, about 3:03 P.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision located at Bellegrave Avenue and Jamestown Avenue, in the city of Eastvale. Upon arrival they located an unknown adult male with obvious signs of death.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicated the driver of a silver, 2006 Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound on Bellegrave Avenue and veered onto oncoming traffic and collided with a white, 2009 Freightliner Cascadia which was traveling westbound on Bellegrave Avenue. The driver of the Freightliner suffered no injury and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. Bellegrave Avenue between Scholar Way and Hamner Avenue were closed for the duration of the investigation.
The identities of the involved parties will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to next of kin. INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
INCIDENT DATE: November 17, 2021
WHERE: Norco Hills Rd. and Valley Dr., Norco
DETAILS: On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, about 2:11 A.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision near the intersection of Norco Hills Road and Valley Drive, in the city of Norco. Upon arrival, deputies located a male adult, who had been ejected from the vehicle. The driver had suffered life-threatening injuries and was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics and Cal Fire personnel. He was determined to be the sole occupant.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicated the driver was traveling eastbound on Norco Hills Road and collided into a brick column. Norco Hills Road and Valley Drive were closed for the duration of the investigation.
The identities of the involved party will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to the next of kin. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.

INCIDENT: Homicide
INCIDENT DATE: November 9, 2021
WHERE: 6400 Block of Wells Springs Street city of Eastvale
DETAILS: On November 9, 2020, about 2:46 PM, Jurupa Valley Station Deputies were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive male adult in the 6400 block of Wells Springs Street, city of Eastvale. Upon deputies arrival, it was determined a 19 year old male adult was deceased. Through extensive investigation by investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit, it was determined the decedent, Javon Richard, was a victim of homicide due to a Fentanyl overdose. The investigation was worked tirelessly over the next several months and a suspect, Alvin Linton (36) from the city of Ontario, was responsible for selling the Fentanyl that killed Richard. On November 17, 2021, Linton was located and taken into custody without incident and booked for Murder. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Hollingsworth at 951-955-1700.
As a reminder, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics many which may contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm.
INCIDENT: Attempted Murder
INCIDENT DATE: October 30, 2021
WHERE: 1600 Block of Valley View, Norco
DETAILS: On October 30, 2021, at 3:04 AM, deputies assigned to the Norco Station were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 Block of Valley View Avenue reference an assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies arrived, they located an adult male victim with numerous stab wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The Norco Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation. Deputies identified the suspect as Ethan Melnikoff, a 19-year-old resident from Riverside. On November 3, 2021, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Bureau, a search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence where additional evidence was located. Melnikoff was arrested without incident and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted murder.
