Pomona: Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspects

Pomona – On Oct. 4, the Pomona Police Department (PPD) investigated a gang related shooting that occurred at the Alberto’s Restaurant located at 1925 W. Holt Ave. During this incident, three of four victims were shot, including one of the suspects involved.

The suspect that had been shot was identified as Christian Miranda, 21, of Pomona, and according to the PPD, it appears that he was accidentally shot by the other suspect during the gunfire. Suspect Miranda was arrested on the night of the shooting and has been charged with four counts of attempted murder.

Through investigative leads the detectives were able to identify the primary shooter as Derek Sommer, 25, of Pomona, and were able to obtain an arrest warrant for five counts of attempted murder with a bail of $5 million.

On Mon., Oct. 13, the PPD received an anonymous tip that the suspect from the Alberto’s shooting was in the apartment complex located in the 1800 block of West Orange Grove Avenue. Patrol officers responded to this location and were able to locate and arrest Suspect Sommer without any issues.

Suspect Sommer is being charged with five counts of attempted murder with gang and weapon enhancements. Suspect Miranda is being charged with four counts of attempted murder with gang and weapon enhancements. Both Sommer and Miranda are known gang members, and Suspect Sommer is also on AB109 probation.

Chino: Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder of Local Family

Chino – On Sept. 23, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Chino Police Officers responded to a call regarding a stabbing in the 6800 block of Cosmos Street. Upon arrival, the responding officers witnessed a male suspect, later identified as Aaron Hernandez a 19-year old Chino resident, walking down the street with a knife.

According to the City of Chino, Officers attempted to make contact with Hernandez, who was fleeing the scene of an attempted murder. He became uncooperative and Officers used a Taser to safely take him into custody.

The investigation revealed that Hernandez stabbed two family members. The victims were transported to a hospital with multiple stab wounds and are expected to survive. Hernandez was also transported to the hospital with minor self-inflicted wounds and has been arrested for attempted murder. He has a history of mental health issues and drug use.

Chino Hills: Stabbing Prompts Shooting

Chino Hills – A Chino Hills homeowner shot and wounded an intruder after a frightening surprise attack on Wed., June 25.

The 18-year old intruder, Raiveon Reenay Wooden, allegedly broke into the home and was hiding in the man’s garage in the 2800 block of Brookside Drive in Chino Hills.

According to a Chino Hills Police Department news release, the homeowner/victim reportedly went to investigate the intrusion at about 2:30 a.m., armed with a handgun. When he approached the garage, he was attacked by Wooden and stabbed multiple times. The victim, in an effort to protect himself and his family, shot Wooden twice.

The Chino Hills Police Department was called to the scene, and both men were treated at local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Wooden, who was apparently the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s daughter, was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for investigation of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
