Eastvale Rebrands Code Enforcement to Community Enhancement & Safety Team

Eastvale- The City of Eastvale is excited to announce the rebranding of Code Enforcement to the Community Enhancement and Safety Team, in an effort to reflect Eastvale’s commitment to safety and maintaining positive relationships within our community.
The rebranding of Code Enforcement to the Community Enhancement and Safety Team was approved to align with the City’s strategic goal of enhancing the community’s quality of life. This change reflects the desire to effectively communicate our goal to serve and help our residents and businesses as best we can. This new team is here to help resolve and minimize issues through education first, while taking code enforcement action only when the need arises.
“Our Eastvale Municipal Code is created and adopted to focus on the Community Enhancement and Safety of our residents and businesses in the City.” Bryan Jones City Manager said. “So we are rebranding our team with the goal of community enhancement and safety through compliance, awareness and education first; using code enforcement tools when necessary. We are excited to see our team grow and develop even stronger relationships in our community”
As part of the rebranding, Eastvale residents can expect to see new vehicle decals and uniforms that represent the Community Enhancement and Safety Team. This team strives to enhance the quality of life within our city, and we are pleased with the hard work and dedication they have shown toward our community.

Understanding Eastvale’s Code Enforcement

EASTVALE, CA– The City of Eastvale’s Code Enforcement division was established to enhance the quality of life within the City by enforcing local laws set forth by the elected and appointed officials. Unlike law enforcement, Code Enforcement officers are City employees utilized to conduct field inspections of properties to ensure compliance with applicable zoning, safety, fire and nuisance codes; ordinances; and/or abatement regulations as outlined in the City’s Municipal Code. Be advised, that any violations to the Municipal Code may be subject to fines, fees and/or legal action. Eastvale’s Code Enforcement is able to respond to reported violations by submitting a complaint through the City’s E-Citizen Service Request System, phone or via email. Officers can also provide additional assistance to the public; however, some inquiries may require a referral to a different department or agency for resolution. It is also important to note that due to the confidentiality or sensitive nature of some cases, information may not be available to the public. In addition, Code Enforcement can provide community outreach, education, and other technical support to assist various departments, divisions, and agencies. To further assist residents with identifying some of the most frequent Code violations found in the City and become familiar with community-wide standards, the City developed the “Eastvale Community Neighborhood Preservation Standards” brochure which can be viewed by visiting www.EastvaleCA.gov.

Code Enforcement cannot respond or resolve the following issues:

  • Emergency situations that threaten human life, property and/or demand immediate attention. (For these emergencies, please call 9-1-1)
  • Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions – (CC&R) violations (Rules established by a developer or Home Owner’s Association that govern residences in a particular neighborhood.)
  • Private disputes between neighbors
  • Situations which are not specifically addressed in the Eastvale Municipal Code

Eastvale: Neighborhood Preservation Standards – Did You Know?

Did you know that the City Municipal Code Sec. 120.05.080.(c)(7) – Neighborhood Preservation Standards – Temporary exterior display and holiday display provides enforceable guidelines:

a. Any temporary exterior display or holiday display shall not physically impede vehicular or pedestrian traffic on any street, sidewalk or right-of-way;

b. Any temporary exterior display or holiday display shall be allowed for a period not to exceed 45 consecutive days.

Holiday Safety Reminders

Southern California Edison reminds its customers to stay safe around electricity this holiday season. Residents are encouraged not to attach holiday lights to Edison equipment, including street lights and utility poles, since this poses a potential safety and fire hazard for the residents and Edison crews. Here are a few safety reminders as you begin preparing for the holiday season:

•       DO NOT attach decorations, lights and/or ornaments to any Southern California Edison equipment or street lights.

•       Do not use decorative lighting with frayed cords and wires, broken fuses or broken light bulbs.

•       Do not use staples, nails or tacks to hang electrical cords. These can pierce the protective insulation.

•       Use only Underwriters Laboratories (UL) approved lighting and extension cords.

•       Plug no more than three strands of lights into each electrical cord/outlet.

•       Ensure live trees are well watered, and keep electric cords away from tree stands with water pans.

•       Never use lighted candles on or near holiday trees or decorations.

•       Remember to unplug decorative lights when you leave home and before going to bed.   NOTE: See also “Safe Use of Power Cords” at http://www.sce.com

•       Safely remove and store your holiday lighting and electrical decorations.

•       Unplug all decorations, lights and extension cords before taking them down. Plugged in items are still energized and can be dangerous.

•       Don’t tug on electrical cords – this may tear the insulation and expose wires.

•       Do not approach or touch overhead power lines and avoid service drops (pole-to-house connections) when removing decorations – keeping ladders, long-handed tools and dangling light strands in mind too.

•       Follow the manufacturer and your city’s directions for safely disposing of worn or broken lights and decorations.
