Great Harvest Comes To Eastvale

By K.P. Sander

great-harvest-bread-eastvale

Great Harvest Bread Co. is located in the Marketplace at the Enclave, at 14244 Schleisman Road, Suite 130 (behind Starbucks). They can be reached at (951) 427-5737. Expect their Grand Opening on Dec. 5.

Eastvale – Close your eyes and imagine being in a bakery, early in the morning. Smell that? That amazing sensory delight is a perfect wheat kernel that has been magically transformed into warm, nutritious, whole-grain goodness – cleverly disguised as a beautiful loaf of bread – just waiting to dazzle you with superior taste and satisfaction.            To say that Eastvale is lucky to become the newest home for the Great Harvest Bread Company is – in my humble opinion – an understatement. For more than 30 years, Great Harvest has been pursuing perfection in the baking of their breads, and very soon citizens in and around Eastvale will be able to enjoy their full range of incredibly tasty treats, including a wide variety of artisan breads, sandwiches, cookies, muffins, and much more.

Most important, perhaps, are the benefits of whole grains that you will easily be able to provide for your family by making breakfast and school lunches with the Honey Whole Wheat or Farmhouse White choices; but there is something so comforting and soul-feeding about freshly baked bread. Grilled cheese takes on a whole new meaning when you pair it with the Cheddar Garlic Bread. Ever tried a roast beef sandwich with fresh Chimichurri sauce? If you aren’t already salivating, know this…your family will throw a ticker-tape parade in your honor when you make them French toast using the Cinnamon Chip bread. I could go on and on.

Meredith Sumenek, the owner of Eastvale’s Great Harvest Bread Company, is very excited to be opening the doors to her all natural bread and sandwich shop in the city she calls home.

“We grind our whole wheat flour on site for the freshest bread around – without preservatives,” says Sumenek. “As owner, I strive to find the freshest ingredients and support other local businesses by purchasing as much as I can locally.”

Sumenek has been baking since she was a toddler, and because her mother never bought bread from the store, but baked every roll, cookie, cake, pie and loaf of bread from scratch, she has very discernible tastes and standards. After 20 years in the financial services industry, becoming a professional baker was a very logical choice for her.

“Our [Great Harvest] breads and sweets taste like no other. Every loaf of bread is hand-crafted from start to finish in the store daily. We knead every single loaf and roll it by hand until it is the way your mother or grandmother would have made it,” Sumenek says (and I believe her). “We do not take shortcuts…it takes five hours to make a single loaf of bread, and it shows in the taste and texture as well as the healthy ingredients,” Sumenek goes on to say.

“Our sandwiches are fresh and amazing with all of our sauces made from fresh ingredients in the store,” she continues. How about smoky ham and slightly melted brie cheese, with tart green apples and a homemade mustard-apricot spread on – if I might be so bold – Cranberry Orange bread? Just sayin’…

When asked why she got into the Great Harvest business, Sumenek says, “I do this because I have a tremendous love of fantastic tasting, healthy bread, and the desire to be a part of the local community. Great Harvest Bread Company is a way to help build the marvelous community we are all making here in the Inland Empire, and I want to have something to pass on to my family, friends and team.”

If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting a Great Harvest Bread Company location, you know what you’re in for. I’m not saying that the drive to Temecula is in vain just for a loaf of their bread (okay, lots of reasons to visit our local vineyards), but now I no longer have to buy in bulk. I can just run ‘round the corner to my favorite bakery any time I like. Trips to Temecula can now focus on the perfect grape to accompany my local bread purchases.

So don’t take my word for it, visit our new Great Harvest Bread Company, with an opening date scheduled for Dec. 5 in the grand city of Eastvale. Meredith Sumenek will be waiting for you, saying, “I look forward to meeting all of you, sharing old memories, and making new friendships.”

She had me at cheddar garlic bread.

Ontario: Farm Fresh Eggs At Voortman’s Ranch

BY K.P. SANDER

Voortman's Egg Ranch

The Voortman Family circa 1956. Voortman’s Egg Ranch is located at 13960 Grove Avenue in Ontario. You can reach them at (909) 465-1319. They are open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Photo Courtesy: Voortman’s Egg Ranch)

Ontario – Voortman’s Egg Ranch has been in the business of providing farm fresh eggs to friends and visitors to the local area for over 60 years. Originally from Bellflower, the Voortman family – who has always been in the egg ranching business – moved their operation to Ontario in 1951.

Voortman’s has a small-town farm ambiance, with the latest in technology. Their happy chickens are enjoying their newly remodeled home; and their egg-processing machine can handle about 36,000 eggs per hour at its peak. If the average bird lays one egg about every 26 hours, that equals a lot of chickens at the Voortman ranch!

Did you know that you can tell how fresh an egg is by how high the yolk stands up in the frying pan after you crack it? Voortman’s will have your over-easies standing tall. Their fresh eggs are the highest in quality, with dark, nutrient-dense yolks. You will immediately notice a difference in your cooking and baking.

Have you ever wondered how long the eggs in the grocery stores have actually been sitting around? Despite the use-by date, there is really no way to know how long ago they were produced. With Voortman’s, the eggs are selected daily, on site, and readied for you in their store.

Third-generation egg rancher, Eddie Voortman, says, “We are a local, family-owned business that provides fresh, quality products to the public.”

Customers of Voortman’s rave about their all natural, cage free eggs, touting the freshness, and great pricing. One customer said, “They make the fluffiest scrambled eggs!”

The eggs come in all sizes and colors, depending on your needs. Whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.

Voortman’s is centrally located just minutes from Chino and Eastvale at 13960 Grove Avenue in Ontario (just north of Edison). You can reach Voortman’s at (909) 465-1319; and Like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Voortmans-Egg-Ranch.

Stop by any time Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and see their ad on Page 8.

Liposuction Without The Suction

BY MICHAEL ARMIJO

Premier Body Sculpt Before-After

Premier Body Sculpt is located at 141 W. Foothill Blvd #5 in Upland. You can reach them at 1-(855) 8-SCULPT or visit their website at http://www.premierbodysculpt.com.

Upland – Body Sculpting is best described as an alternative way to lose body fat in specific areas that are hard to reach, including under the arms, love handles, inner thighs, or even the breast area on a man. The procedure seems to be relatively new, but it’s actually an old technique that is revised.

Upon visiting the Premier Body Sculpt Center in Upland, I was a bit skeptical about their amazing new technology actually working. The combination of Ultrasonic Cavitations and Radio Frequency was said to show amazing results without the inconvenience, pain and down-time of surgery. But the skepticism is over.

This non-invasive, liposuction technology works by using sonic energy and vibration to destroy and collapse fat cells, thereby facilitating the body’s natural process to metabolize and move fat out through the lymphatic system. Unlike liposuction – and for a fraction of the cost – results can be seen immediately with no bruising, swelling, or scars.

The best way to describe it would be: imagine getting a huge bag and placing small water balloons inside. Then imagine tapping the bag until the water balloons break. This same concept is applied to Body Sculpting. It liquefies the fat and then the body processes the fat through the urine. Sounds different, but the body processes fat this way, and the results are immediate, with further results seen throughout the week.

When I experienced Body Sculpting myself, all I had to do was lie down and sit up while the three step process was administered. The ultrasound radio frequency was a bit different, as sound waves emitted through my body. That’s what ultrasound is, an emission of sound waves. But this is at a higher rate, and this is how fat is broken down. And during the process, I could actually hear sound coming out of my ears. It took a moment to get used to, but eventually it didn’t faze me a bit.

When it comes to my health, I am on it. I need to know all the facts, the downsides, and the repercussions. I am a diabetic, so I always have some type of risk. But what gave me confidence was that the technician was an RN, BSN, and Aesthetic Specialist – who also worked in an emergency room at a local hospital (yes, I checked).

I could not find anything negative about the procedure and I did see results right away (the before and after pictures were amazing). I completed three sessions, and I am pleased with the results so far. I would go back to do more.

I recommend Premier Body Sculpting, and I also recommend you check out their website, watch the video, and make the best decision for yourself.

Premier Body Sculpt is located at 141 W. Foothill Blvd., #5, in Upland. You can reach them at (855) 8-SCULPT, or visit their website at http://www.premierbodysculpt.com.

Inland Empire: What You DON’T See Is What You Get

BY MICHAEL ARMIJO

Business-feature-brown-insurance

For questions about your Business Insurance Policy, Grace Buencamino with George L Brown Insurance Agency can be reached at (909) 973-8233 or GBuencamino@georgebrowninsurance.com.

Inland Empire – When Daniel started his carpet cleaning business six years ago, he had to get insurance. So he did, and he faithfully paid his premiums every month. Unfortunately, Daniel’s business was burglarized, but he had no need to worry; he was fully covered and he had never missed a payment in nearly six years. Then Daniel found out some very disturbing news.

Daniel’s insurance company gladly filed his claim. The reports were all in order and the estimate of $16,839 was right in line with specifications. But Daniel only received a check for $3,000. He had no idea his policy coverage for theft or fire had a limit of $3,500, with a $500 deductible.

“It’s common for a business, especially a small business, to be under-insured,” said Grace Buencamino, a longtime broker at George L. Brown Insurance. “You need a proactive agent who will periodically go over your coverage with you to ensure your business is adequately covered.”

Buencamino also points out that it’s not always the client’s fault for not knowing their policy limits.

“Sometimes a business will outgrow their coverage,” she says. “I’ve seen businesses who thought they had adequate coverage. The business owner didn’t realize that after five years, the company had acquired more equipment, increasing their Business Property from $3,000 to $20,000. To avoid my clients being under-insured, I do an annual review of their policy. Changes in Business Property can be discovered during this review and the policy limits can be changed at very little cost.”

Buencamino also said that by working closely with the business owner, she can get a better understanding of their needs and work with them to limit their exposures. She encourages clients to contact her if they make any changes to their business that may affect their current coverage.

One advantage of consulting with a broker, they can find the best priced insurance to meet your needs, whether they are “rate driven” or “coverage driven”. A broker can shop multiple carriers and bring you the options you deserve.

If you have questions about your Business Insurance Policy, Grace Buencamino with George L. Brown Insurance Agency can be reached at (909) 973-8233 or GBuencamino@georgebrowninsurance.com.

Inland Empire: BWR Heating and Cooling

By K.P. SANDER

Brian Weaver

BWR’s Brian Weaver (Photo Courtesy: BWR Heating & Cooling)

Inland Empire – Are your air conditioning and heating units ready when you are? In this summer heat, it can be frustrating to not be able to cool your house down. And it’s not just your air conditioners; cooler temperature will be here soon enough. Is your heater ready to take the chill off your home and keep your family comfortable after sitting dormant all summer?

According to Brian Weaver, owner of BWR Heating and Cooling, maintenance is the key to keeping your heaters and air conditioners in top form and ready to meet your needs. You can actually save money in the long run by ensuring that your systems are proactively taken care of, and not waiting until they need to be repaired or even replaced.

“I am your local go-to guy for all your heating, cooling and whole house fan needs. Whether you need repair, replacement, or maintenance, we’ll be there for you,” says Weaver.

Established in 1998, BWR offers start-to-finish solutions for every project. Conveniently located in Norco and serving the Inland Empire, they also give back to the communities they serve.

BWR has sponsored local sports teams at both the recreational and high school levels. The company has also given donations to Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) in order to purchase needed equipment for their schools. BWR has also sponsored different events for the Norco Horse Week Rodeo, and been a participant in local parades. They recently donated a vehicle to the CNUSD Auto Shop program, so students can learn valuable hands-on repair and maintenance skills.

Whether your needs are residential or commercial, BWR provides installation, maintenance, upgrades and complete repair services on all makes and models. And don’t forget about duct cleaning. Dirty vents can cause dirt, pollen, dust – and even mildew – to circulate in your home and reduce efficiency; built up dryer vents can even become a fire hazard. BWR can clean your ventilation system and keep your entire system in working order.

BWR is a registered HERO (Home Energy Renovation Opportunity) contractor, and they are dedicated to providing the very best in products and services to help homeowners become more energy efficient and lower utility costs.

BWR now offers Quiet Cool (whole house fan systems) that can cool your entire house by up to 30 degrees. This system is more energy efficient than a traditional air conditioning unit, and works by pulling cooler air from outside indoors. Ask BWR if this system is right for you.

With the heat of summer still intent upon us, get cooled off, not ripped off, and call BWR today – they will not be undersold. You can reach them at 1-800-AC-REPAIR, (951) 377-6333, or visit bwrheatingandcooling.com for more information.

With a store located in Eastvale, the family-owned, independent Goodyear dealer brings its considerable expertise to our city.

“We opened our first store in Duarte in 1987, and now have 30 locations in Southern California,” said Chris Mitsos, Vice President and co-owner of the company.

MountainView Tire and Service, Inc. is more than just a tire store, according to Mitsos.

“We are not just a tire dealer, we are an auto repair facility as well,” said Mitsos in a previous interview. “Half of our revenue is derived from tires, the other half from auto service.” Our customers are treated with respect and get an honest assessment of their automotive needs. We try to demystify the auto service experience,” he added.

Mitsos wants his Eastvale location to be a one-stop shop for his clients by providing complete auto service for just about anyone who owns a car. They provide computerized engine analysis, cooling system maintenance, brakes, tires, heating and air conditioning service, along with battery, oil lube and filter services.

“About the only things we don’t do are body work and smog checks,” said Mitsos. “This is a family-run business. My brother and I work from 7 in the morning to 6 at night, and our focus has always been our customers. My brother and I handle all complaints personally,” he said. “Fortunately, there aren’t many.”

Mitsos has a passion for two things: servicing autos and keeping customers happy; his business philosophy clearly points this out.

“We want to give our customers the ‘wow’ experience,” said Mitsos. “We want our customers to say ‘wow’ when they drive away from our shop.”

Business Feature: “Sell Your Casa” With Gil Rivera

 By Sarah Armijo

: Gil Rivera offers a 4% Total Commission for Sellers. His current promotion is “We will SELL your house in 6 weeks at highest value!” For more information, go to sellyourcasa.com, call (909) 967-4525. Call today for a free market evaluation!

Southern California – In this day and age, it’s important to know all aspects of your business. For Gil Rivera from sellyourcasa.com, he definitely knows every aspect of buying and selling a home. He is a reliable, experienced, and an affordable Realtor, Broker, and Certified Appraiser.

Rivera sells houses, condos, and 2-4 unit investment properties in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. He also does real estate appraisals for banks, estates, trusts, divorces, attorneys, refinances, home purchases, and upon death of a homeowner for tax purposes. Rivera also has assistants that work with him who are fluent in Spanish and Chinese, which helps him to reach people of different dialects all over Southern California.

Rivera is in his 20th year of business and has SOLD homes in 26 different cities in Southern California, so his coverage area is expansive. Rivera said, “I can do this because I appraise homes in so many different cities and have the knowledge and expertise associated with your marketplace. Give me an opportunity and you will surely be happy you did!” In Feb. 2013, Rivera listed a home in Monterey Park worth $470,000. Rivera received 53 offers in seven days and SOLD it for $515,000!

Rivera’s philosophy is to “treat my clients the way I want to be treated.” In fact, Rivera said that he became a Realtor because he did not like the way his Realtor treated him when he was buying his home. Rivera shows respect for his clients at all times. He listens to what they say, so that he can better serve them.

Rivera also does not push his Buyers into a sale. Rivera said, “I always tell Buyers: ‘You will know right away when we walk into the house that’s meant for you.’ Whether it takes a week or months, my Buyers will always be satisfied with their purchase and never pressured into it.”

Rivera’s Sellers love the fact that he offers a discounted commission, but with full service. Rivera offers a 4% Total Commission for Sellers. This includes 2.5% to the Buyer’s Agent and 1.5% to Rivera’s office. Most Realtors negotiate a 6% commission because they have to split the fees with their brokerage. But, Rivera passes on the savings to the Seller. This will save Sellers thousands of dollars in commission fees. His team offers full service for that discounted rate including high quality flyers, professional photos, open houses (as allowable by Seller), and extended advertising coverage on the Internet and social media.

Rivera’s current promotion is “We will SELL your house in six weeks at highest value! We only request a listing period of six weeks, while most other Realtors ask for six month listings.” Rivera says that “Buyers need to know that they do not need to pay their Realtor any fees for representing them on a purchase. The Buyer’s agent is paid by the Seller, not the Buyer.

Rivera absolutely loves what he does. He loves selling homes to Buyers because he helps fulfill their dreams of home ownership. His favorite part of selling homes to is transferring the keys to excited Buyers. Rivera loves selling homes for Sellers because he enjoys the uniqueness that each property offers and selling the positive attributes of the home. Rivera says, “Many agents spend their time showing houses….I SELL them!”

Check out Rivera’s website at http://www.SellYourCasa.com to see how many different cities Rivera has sold in and for additional information about Rivera’s company. You can also call toll free at (877) 888-SOLD (7653) or cell phone numbers (909) 967-4525 and (626) 340-9950. Call today for a free market evaluation. See the ad on page 12 of this publication.

First Baptist Church of Walnut Valley (FBCWV) is calling all kids who have completed grades 1 through 6 to come and make new friends and participate in an exciting music experience. The 11th Annual Summer Music Camp, held Monday through Friday, July 28 through August 8, is an amazing program offering music education and experiences led by trained and dedicated leaders.

Children can enjoy music, singing, choreography, drama, Bible lessons, crafts, games, water fun, and a special field trip in this two-week adventure that runs from daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp ends on August 8 with a celebratory 30-foot banana split, followed by a special performance for family and friends on Sunday, August 10.

The cost is only $120 per person for the entire camp, but space is limited. Register at the church office Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 4 p.m.

FBCWV first came into being in 1969 as a mission church that conducted its services in a school cafeteria. Since then, they have grown into so much more, and are known as “a small church with a big outreach.” They offer opportunities and activities for all ages, from nursery to adult, on a daily basis. These activities include Bible Study groups, Men’s Fellowship, Youth Groups, Sports Ministries, Mission Trips, and their Performing Arts Ministry.

The Church’s sense of family and passion carry over into their different avenues of ministry, including performing arts. “Our purpose is to use the avenue of music and drama as a ministry that will introduce people to Jesus, generate a closer spiritual walk with Him and encourage fellowship and service with other Believers,” says the Director of Performing Arts and King’s Kids, Yvonne Read.

Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m., with a 9:15 a.m. Bible Study group available for all ages. Everyone is welcome to attend. According to Read, “We are a caring family and are always excited as we lovingly welcome new members to help serve and worship with us. You will feel right at home and cherished.”

Pastor Glenn Miyazono presents the Bible message each week with clear and inspiring words. “The music will thrill your heart,” he says.

For more information or to register for the music camp, visit the church office located at 20425 E. La Puente Road, in Walnut, call (909) 595-0811, or visit FBCWV’s website at http://www.fbcwv.org.
