God Owns It All

By Sean Ortiz

Have you ever wondered who is responsible for your fiscal management?  Does the idea of a budget make you cringe?  Well we have been going through a lesson called Impact here at New Beginnings.  It is based on Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University training.  One of the foundations of the class is to understand that God own’s it all.  PSALM 24:1 saysThe earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein”.  In HAGGAI 2:8 it states, ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts”.  Also in GENESIS 1:1 it begins with “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”.  As soon as we understand the concept, that we do not own anything, but that we are God’s management team.  We can then realize we have a huge responsibility to manage our resources with the understanding we are accountable to the creator of Heaven and Earth.  What a responsibility we have.  The idea is the we would always think twice if we understood that we don’t own anything.  So, what would life be like debt free and living on 80% of your income?  What could you accomplish if you saved 10% and had 10% to give to charity.  Who could you help?  Who could be blessed by your abundance because you are managing your resources wisely.  We have 3 powerful resources, our TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE.  So, the question is, are you ready to live life and live it MORE abundantly? Let’s trust God with our resources so we can make an IMPACT in the world around us.  Remember to always LET GO AND LET GOD……

Men Of Impakt

By Anthony Saude

Wow, what a month February turned out to be for me personally, spiritually and professionally. It was not easy but I will take joy in all things.

On the radio show I got to speak with former Los Angeles Ram defensive end Reggie Doss on the air. I remember watching Reggie play football in the Super bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers. I was a big Rams fan at the time and Vince Ferragamo was the next coming for a lot of us.

Reggie was a 7th round pick out of a little NAIA school and didn’t even play football until high school. He got married and adopted 3 young boys through the foster care system all after he turned 45 years of age. His story from a young age is truly a one of inspiration and faith.

Another show my guest was Sean Oliver, he had some great advice on how to reach our full potential both personally and professionally. Around these parts we have come to know him simply as “Master Yoda in Human Form.” He was able to give us some great insight on how fear dictates our actions more that we may understand and how that might be holding us back from the life God intended for us.

On March 1st my guest was a new friend of mine Pastor Brian Briggs. What a testimony this guy brought to the show. Brian is ex military turned pastor. We talked about his addictions and how he was able to overcome them to become ordained.

I hope you men out there were able to listen in February it was a month that true over comers took center stage to give us all hope that all things are possible.

You can listen to the recordings of these shows and all others at http://www.hoperadio247.com.

Ordinary men living extraordinary lives.

Philly’s Best

By Anthony Saude

Mira Loma – I was in the mood for a hot sandwich and then I remembered that there was a Philly’s Best down the street that I hadn’t tried yet. If I remembered correctly, I even had a buy one get one free cupon. So I took the wife out for lunch to see what all the fuss was about.

The dining was very clean when we walked in and the hostess behind the cash registered smiled a great big inviting smile. She asked us how our day was going and enthusiastically took our order. We decided to order both a chicken and a cheese steak sandwich so we could each taste both.

I expected that they would have both the meats in a container all ready prepared but no, they actually cooked the meat to order. It was so hot and fresh I had to let it cool for a few minutes. The wait was worth it; my wife and I both agreed that the sandwiches were absolutely delicious. As good as the meat and peppers were, the bread actually stole the show.

When we left, we were full, happy and satisfied with the food and the experience. We also got a $9 sandwich for free! So pick up your CityofEastvale.com Newspaper to get your bogo coupon and head down the Philly’s Best at 6237 Pat’s Ranch Road in Mira Loma.

Conquering Sugar Cravings

By Nia Saldana

Did you know that sugar and processed foods are as addictive as heroin and cocaine? It’s no wonder so many people are addicted to sugar.

“Sweet is the first taste humans prefer from birth,” says Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, a dietitian and American Dietetic Association (ADA) spokeswoman. She has also said that the sweet taste releases endorphins that help us calm down and relax, giving us a natural high.

Experts worry that since sugar makes up a third of our calorie intake, sugar overload is contributing to diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Researchers at Yale University have revealed that after eating bad carbohydrates such as sugars and carbs, cause dramatic drops in blood sugar levels. The drop can leads to loss of self-control and cravings when it comes to high-calorie foods.

When trying to stop sugar cravings, it is important to never go hungry. Skipping a meal or two lowers the body’s blood sugar causing you to overeat to make up for the lost calories. Eating three balanced meals a day with two snacks keep your blood sugar stable reducing cravings.

Most people are guilty of having a sweet tooth especially in the evening hours after dinner. There are healthier ways to satisfy these cravings, such as fruits, smoothies, or even dark chocolates can be healthy than donuts and candies.

Here are a few examples of healthier sweet tooth remedies:

Yogurt Parfait ( about 300 calories)

Cereal and Milk (about 110 calories)

Fresh Fruit (about 54 calories)

Dark Chocolate ( about 155 calories)

Smoothie (about 90 calories)

Graham Crackers ( about 320 calories)

Remember to keep a positive mindset when trying to crush these cravings!

INCIDENT: WARRANT SWEEP

WHEN: 2/24/18

WHERE: Eastvale

Eastvale, CA – Some think if they just don’t show up for a court hearing, the police won’t have the manpower to come find them.  If your violation is a DUI or traffic related, don’t count on it.   On February 24, 2018, The Eastvale Traffic Team with dozens of outstanding arrest warrants fanned out into neighborhoods in search of high risk DUI offenders and others with traffic related warrants. Officers served warrants and arrested offenders who either failed to show up for a court date or violated terms of their probation in an outstanding traffic-related case. Those caught often face additional jail time for failing to appear in court or for violating probation. When family, friends, and co-workers find out, violators can also face personal embarrassment as they are led away in handcuffs, as well as missing work while sitting in jail. Special Warrant Service Operations along with regularly scheduled ‘High Visibility’ DUI enforcement has a deterrent effect on those who disregard driving safety and abuse alcohol and drugs.  The Eastvale Police Department places a high priority on lowering deaths and injuries with the goal of removing impaired drivers and heightening awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.  Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Life in the Fast-Food Lane

By Rob Norris

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exodus 20:8

When Truett Cathy opened his Dwarf House restaurant in the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville, Georgia, in 1946, he made a decision never to deal with money on the Lord’s Day. The Dwarf House was always closed on Sundays.
The restaurant was the first franchise for Chick-fil-A®—and by the organization’s sixtieth anniversary; it had multiplied into over 1,200 restaurant locations. As Chick-fil-A continues to grow, it also continues to close its operations on Sunday, traditionally one of the biggest days for food service.
Being closed on Sunday is a reflection of Truett’s purpose statement for his company. It’s an investment in the spiritual lives of his employees and a witness to both the watching world and the restaurant industry. He still refers to his closed-on-Sunday policy as “the best business decision I ever made.” In fact, Chick-fil-A restaurants often generate more money in six days than other comparable restaurants do in seven.
Being closed on Sunday is also a reflection of one of my core values: Sabbath rest. I believe that when we yield control of our lives to the Father—when we reserve our Sundays to turn from our activity to rest and to abide more fully in Him—we receive strength for daily living throughout the coming week and live under the blessing of God.
The Sabbath is God’s invitation to draw near to Him, to rest in Him, and to linger by His still waters. It’s how He helps detoxify you from the pressures of life. It’s how He restores your soul.
Live IT:

How could you make God-honoring relaxation more of a deliberate effort?

Pray:

Ask the Lord to show you the value of keeping His Sabbath.

Meeting @ 10:00 at River Heights Intermediate School 7227 Scholar Way, Eastvale CA.

Join us on Easter for a Celebration Service and Egg Hunt

Trusting and believing with you,

Pastor Rob

Empty Is Good

By Pastor Dennis Morales

“And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see.”  Luke 24:24

There was a city where a building wall collapsed because the foundation caved into an empty tomb-it was unknown and hidden when they built it. Now if the men intentionally built a building with a hole as a foundation they would be fools. When we look at God and His ability to “hang the earth upon nothing” we think differently. The church as we know it has a foundation that is in fact the empty tomb. If His tomb hadn’t been emptied there wouldn’t have been any hope. The empty tomb gives us assurance that Jesus is who He said He is. Jesus “was declared the Son of God (with power) by the resurrection from the dead” (Rom 1:4). The empty tomb is proof of acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice for all mankind (Rom 5:18).   The empty tomb means death is defeated. There is now no death for those who are in Christ Jesus! “Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”(1 Cor. 15:51-57).  Because of the empty tomb, you and I, by faith in Him, have life today and life forever!  He is risen!  SPECIAL EASTER SERVICES:  Good Friday at 6pm and a combined service on Easter Sunday at 9:30am with a Family BBQ following.  Calvary Chapel Eastvale meets regularly Sundays, 8:30am & 10:30am, and Wednesdays, 7:00pm at Clara Barton Elementary School (7437 Corona Valley Ave, Eastvale).  Visit their website at www.clavaryeastvale.org.

Two Local Wrestlers Take State Title

Courtesy: Kathleen Ray

By Chris Helsinger-Pate

Corona – A highly competitive wrestling team from Santiago High School sent three wrestlers to the CIF State Boys’ Wrestling tournament. Brayden Ray, Joshua Kim, and Jesse Vasquez traveled to Bakersfield to represent their team.

Senior Brayden Ray, a competitor in the 220-pound weight class, notes that he has “…had to train hard and stay focused on the right path” to reach the state level. He used the disappointment from last season (falling just short of the CIF title) to catapult him to this season’s success.

Joshua Kim and Jesse Vasquez experienced tremendous hard fought success at the CIF State Championship. Both wrestlers advanced to the finals in their weight classes and came out victorious making them state champs. Sophomore Jesse Vasquez says that “Wrestling continually provides me opportunities to grow and achieve my goals.” Vasquez should be a strong candidate to come out on top in the 132-pound weight class considering his first place finish in the CIF Regional round.

Courtesy: Kathleen Ray

All three wrestlers referenced their faith in God as one of the driving forces behind their success. Joshua Kim, a senior at Santiago, “…believe[s] that my success and failures as a student-athlete are God’s plan.”

While Brayden Ray, Jesse Vasquez, and Joshua Kim have been driving forces behind Santiago’s success it is Jesse Vasquez now a two time state champ, that is likely to have the longest lasting impact. Just a sophomore, he’ll have two more seasons to compete at the high school level. Another offseason of training will leave him a favorite to accomplish more accolades at the CIF level.

Maine enters the Union: March 15,1820

History.com

As part of the Missouri Compromise between the North and the South, Maine is admitted into the Union as the 23rd state. Administered as a province of Massachusetts since 1647, the entrance of Maine as a free state was agreed to by Southern senators in exchange for the entrance of Missouri as a slave state.

In 1604, French explorer Samuel de Champlain visited the coast of Maine and claimed it as part of the French province of Acadia. However, French attempts to settle Maine were thwarted when British forces under Sir Samuel Argall destroyed a colony on Mount Desert Island in 1613. Sir Ferdinando Gorges, a leading figure in the Plymouth Company, initiated British settlement in Maine after receiving a grant and royal charter, and upon Gorges’ death in 1647 the Massachusetts Bay Colony claimed jurisdiction. Gorges’ heirs disputed this claim until 1677, when Massachusetts agreed to purchase Gorges’ original proprietary rights.

As part of Massachusetts, Maine developed early fishing, lumbering, and shipbuilding industries and in 1820 was granted statehood. In the 19th century, the promise of jobs in the timber industry lured many French Canadians to Maine from the Canadian province of Quebec, which borders the state to the west. With 90 percent of Maine still covered by forests, Maine is known as the “Pine Tree State” and is the most sparsely populated state east of the Mississippi River.

Eastvale Still One of Safest Cities

By Jaelyn Fudge

Eastvale – Eastvale is proud to announce that we’ve currently been ranked in the top 25th percentile as one of the safest cities in the U.S! This report was taken from a recent study conducted by the Safe Homes organization, entitled the 101 Safest Cities in America.

“We are proud that the City of Eastvale is ranked as one of the safest places to live, work, and play. Safety remains a top priority for the City Council. We will continue to prioritize public safety in order to maintain a high quality of life in our community,” Mayor Clint Lorimore comments. Local citizens have also commented, and are equally impressed with this news as well. “This is a real accolade for our city, and I’m happy to say that I’m not surprised Eastvale was awarded this ranking, as it’s an extremely safe community,” local resident Jessica Alvarez states.

Among Eastvale’s various milestones, this one is particularly significant as the Safe Homes organization considers multiple factors before assigning a safety score for a city. Safe Homes is an organization dedicated to making communities safer. Crime reports, population density, unemployment rate, income, and education levels, are only a few of the many factors Safe Homes takes into consideration before publishing their results. While this news is not only exciting for the community, it also reflects the values, merit, and caliber of our city within itself. Keep it up, Eastvale!
