Halloween Auto Accident
By Anthony Saude
Eastvale – Riverside County Fire Department responded to a call at Halloween night about an automobile accident on the corner of Schleisman and Cedar Creek in the city of Eastvale.
Captain Schmidt from the original Eastvale Fire Station 27 on Hamner said “the call came in at approximately 9:30 pm and we were out there until after midnight”.
“Truck 17 from Glen Avon, Fire Engines from Station 31 and 27, all the same Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene said the Captain”. “Three people were trapped in the vehicles and had to be extricated using the “Jaws of Life” said Captain Schmidt. Capt. Schmidt said “the victims suffered minor injuries and were transported via ambulance to a local hospital to treat their injuries”. “The intersection was partially closed off to traffic while the firefighters continued working” the Captain added.
An Eastvale Resident posted: “Unfortunate accident on Halloween night. Fire department is continuing to free the last passenger. Corner of Schleisman and Cedar Creek. Many accidents have happened in this corner, city of Eastvale needs to put a stop light/sign on this intersection” Another resident had this to say, “I have to tell you this city amazes me more and more every day. My husband and I heard the accident and ran out of the house quickly. There were already people running over to assist help. Calls to 911 were being made. What didn’t stop was the flood of neighbors that kept heading over to help in whatever way they could. There were dozens of neighbors that ran and jumped in to help. I even said to my husband who are all these people that keep coming. He just said “they are our neighborhood”. Thank goodness we have good and caring people surrounding us.
14 Years Of Carpet Cleaning Experience
By Michael Armijo
Eastvale – Honesty and integrity are always a factor in business and are sought out continuously. But how some people get there is through longevity and experience. When you have all four of those elements you have no choice but to be successful in your field. Extreme Carpet Care clients have boasted they’ve received all four of those components. Honesty, integrity, longevity and especially experience. A great reason to get your carpets cleaned at a reasonable price. “Robert was great and did a wonderful job on the carpet in our new home,” said Daniel Radillo, who recently had his carpets cleaned in the home he bought in neighboring Jurupa. “I was budgeting for new carpet, but had to wait, but glad I did. Extreme Carpet Care saved that carpet and now I won’t need to purchase new carpet until next year, I am so thankful.” Extreme Carpet Care has a unique slogan, simple and honest: “If it comes out, we can get it out.” Their workmanship can speak for itself and their introductory special will allow you to try them out. For only $85 they’ll deep clean 3 rooms and a free hallway. That’s an entire house in many areas or high traffic rooms in larger homes. Their van mounted high powered equipment doesn’t bury the dirt but instead deep cleans and removes it with deep suction while using quality, environmentally friendly products. “You can try us at the great rate, which includes pre-spotting and deodorizer,” added Robert. “We will add carpet protection for 2 rooms ($15 a room) and get a 3rd room protected for FREE. Where else can you find $30 for added protection against stains?” Call 909.376.3766 today and have Robert and his team deep clean and protect your carpets at an affordable rate and with over 14 years of experience behind them.“If it can’t be cleaned we’ll be honest and not take your money,” he added. “We know we’ll be back to have that new carpet cleaned in the future by being honest today.”

Can You Stop A Barking Dog?
By Marissa Mitchell
Last week, a woman in Eastvale posted her frustration on the city Facebook page regarding a very loud dog her neighbors have.
What to do about neighboring barking dogs – particularly when they consistently disturb the peace of surrounding residents – can be a relevant question for many.
If a person calls Animal Control, this will not do much to alleviate the immediacy of the barking noises. Animal Control will mail a form to the complaining resident, one that stipulates that the dog is disturbing the peace. That form, in turn, will be sent to the address of the dog’s owner, after which the reporting resident will have to attend court to finally issue a citation. This process can take quite a while.
Those affected by the barking of a neighbor’s dog may take the old-fashioned approach of simply asking the dog owner/neighbor to control their dog’s barking, perhaps through a bark collar. This may or may not be effective depending of the type and receptivity of the person approached. If so confronted, the dog owner may also voice a concern of humane animal treatment, since dog collars are suspected on some level of incurring pain to the animal.
One resident responded to the Facebook complaint by suggesting a “Sonic Bird House Bark Control” sustainable outdoors. This essentially is a bark collar but in a birdhouse form, one that can be placed outdoors, in one’s own yard, without breaking down because of weather. If a person uses this, he or she is essentially controlling the barking of a neighbor’s dog without that neighbor’s permission through ultrasonic sound waves.
Back in 2009, Riverside County – Eastvale and Norco included – approved an anti-nuisance ordinance aimed at silencing noisy dogs by increasing fines for owners up to $500 and including remedies such as obedience training. This process, however, does go through Animal Services and through the Court process, as described above. The law is meant to expedite the process by allowing an administrative hearing officer, sometimes a practicing attorney in arbitration, to hear the complaints and make the decisions quickly, but this is not always the case.
In Chino Hills, residents are instructed to contact the Inland Valley Humane Society. In Chino, citizens must call Animal Control, and if after hours, a police officer will be dispatched, but only if the caller reveals his or her identity. Generally, simply a warning is issued initially. The same process is outlined for Diamond Bar residents. Thus, there doesn’t seem to be any one expedient way to handle barking dogs in one’s neighborhood, and, while there is some sort of process, it will not be quickly remedied through the government.
What Does 4% vs. 6% Mean?

Gil Rivera offers a 4% Total Commission for Sellers. For more information, go to sellyourcasa.com or call (877) 888-SOLD (7653).
By Sarah Sanchez
Southern California – What does 4% opposed to 6% really mean? If you’re selling your home, you’ll pay a 6% commission to the realtors. But with Gil Rivera from SellYourCasa.com you’ll only pay 4% for the SAME AMOUNT OF WORK! So if your home sells for $500,000, at 6% you’ll fork over $30,000 for commission. With Gil Rivera you’ll only pay $20,000 for both realtors to split. That’s a savings of $10,000!!
Rivera’s Sellers love the fact that he offers a discounted commission, but with full service. Rivera’s offer of 4% Total Commission for Sellers includes 2.5% to the Buyer’s Agent and 1.5% to Rivera’s office. Most Realtors negotiate a 6% commission because they have to split the fees with their brokerage. But, as Rivera is the Broker, he passes on the savings to the Seller. This will save Sellers thousands of dollars in commission fees. His team offers full service for that discounted rate including high quality flyers, professional photos, open houses (as allowable by Seller), and extended advertising coverage on the Internet and social media.
Now, more about what you’re getting from Gil Rivera at SellYourCasa.com: It’s important to know all aspects of your business. For Gil Rivera from SellYourCasa.com, he absolutely knows every aspect of buying and selling a home. He is a reliable, experienced, and an affordable Realtor, Broker, and Certified Appraiser.
Rivera sells houses, condos, and two to four unit investment properties in Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange counties. He just recently sold another home in Eastvale last month. He also does real estate appraisals for banks, estates, trusts, divorces, attorneys, refinances, home purchases, and probate/inheritance for tax purposes. In addition, Rivera has assistants that work with him who are fluent in Spanish and Chinese, helping to reach people of different dialects all over Southern California.
Rivera’s philosophy is to “treat my clients the way I want to be treated.” In fact, Rivera said that he became a Realtor because he did not like the way his Realtor treated him when he was buying his home. Rivera shows respect for his clients at all times. He listens to what they say, so that he can better serve them.
Rivera also does not push his Buyers into a sale. Rivera said, “I always tell Buyers: ‘You will know right away when we walk into the house that’s meant for you’. Whether it takes a week or months, my Buyers will always be satisfied with their purchase and never pressured into it.”
Rivera’s current promotion is, “We will SELL your house in four weeks at highest value! We only request a listing period of four weeks, while most other Realtors ask for a six month listing.” Rivera says that “Buyers need to know that they do not need to pay their Realtor any fees for representing them on a purchase. The Buyer’s agent is paid by the Seller, not the Buyer.

Costco Inks Deal To Open
Staff Reports
Eastvale – The last hurdle has been cleared for the long awaited Costco project to move forward without any further negotiations. The city of Eastvale agreed to increase the $2.5 million to $4.5 million in future sales tax to be paid to the centers developer of the Goodman Commerce Center in November of 2016. One month after Eastvale officials agreed to the sales tax refund for the developer Costco has signed a deal to be the project’s retail anchor.
Costco will occupy 10 of the 40 acres set aside for retail in the 205-acre project. The original pact for the $2.5 million in sales tax from the project was to help pay for street and other infrastructure improvements but the increase in the sales tax was needed to attract the likes of a big box retailer the size of Costco. City officials are very excited and grateful to be getting a Costco this will be a big deal for the city on a couple of different levels, first there is the projected $1.1 million in sales tax annually. Also when companies like Costco commit to be the anchor of the shopping center it all but guarantees other well respected, high revenue retailers will be interested in bringing their businesses to the city. Total infrastructure costs — including street improvements, sidewalks, and water, sewer and utility poles — are expected to be $36 million, according reports by the city. The City Council only agreed to the proposal as long as the lease with Costco was signed by September 30 and the store open by the end of 2018. The City also said they are going to do everything in their power to make it happen even sooner.

Living in the Inland Empire can be very hot and people tend to put things off until they are broken, which of course is when the A/C companies are extremely busy. TCHA has a preventative maintenance plan that was created to help customers avoid the huge repair bills that dirty or inadequate equipment ultimately cost you. When the time comes to replace costly equipment, and it will, the financial burden can be too much for the customer to pay all at once. This is why TCHA offers Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) Financing Program, a program developed by contractors, for Contractors. Historically the process a contractor had to use for a homeowner to get financed was labor intensive and very confusing. EGIA has put together what they believe is the simplest application processes in the history of the industry. They have made it possible for contractors to get approval for a reasonable payment while they are still in the home with the customer. Police Officials states that on October 1st, Stephen Paddlock, 64, opened fire on a crowd of more than 22,000 concertgoers from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. At least 59 people were killed during the La Vegas shooting and more than 500 have been injured. Members of the local community were among those killed, injured, or witnessed the horrific event.
Eastvale resident, Rocio Guillen, was killed during the shooting. Guillen had four children and was engaged to Chris Jaksha. Reports also state she recently had a baby.
Three GoFundMe accounts have been setup for Rocio’s families. The first account was setup Rocio’s oldest son, with the help of his aunt. An updated description on the GoFundMe page stated that the funds will go towards Rocio’s funeral service and be given to all four of her children. Here is the link to this account: https://www.gofundme.com/support-for-marcus-chris. A second GoFundMe account was created by longtime family friends of Rocio’s fiancé. The funds will be given to Rocio’s fiancé and all four children: https://www.gofundme.com/4irnbc8. The last GoFundMe account was setup by Rocio’s cousin, Valerie, to help pay for funeral costs: https://www.gofundme.com/rocio-guillen-rocha. All three GoFundMe accounts have been confirmed to be legitimate.
Family friend, Rebecca Prunk McNeal, is also collecting donations for Rocio’s two infant children: a 18 month-old and a 2 months-old. She requested community members drop off wipes, Enfamil Gentleease formula, applesauce or fruit type pouches, juice boxes, or toddler type bars and yogurt melts (non-perishable items) or Target, Walmart and grocery gift cards. A Facebook post stated they had quite a few diapers donated.
The donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

- Chino Hills South drop off location: 16656 Longacre Ave Chino Hills

It was reported that a United States military veteran who lived in Corona was also killed. Chris Roybal, 28, previously served in Afghanistan and attended the concert to celebrate his 29th birthday. However, he was one of the 59 people who were killed during the event. A friend of Chris’ setup this GoFundMe account for funeral costs: https://www.gofundme.com/chris-roybal-family-relief-fund. This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Another young man also lost his life at the concert. Austin Davis, 29, was loved by many. His mom is a staff member at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Staff members of ERHS setup the following GoFundMe account for his memorial: https://www.gofundme.com/austin-davis-memorial-fund. This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Among those who were injured was San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s employee Sergeant Brad Powers. He is a “19-year veteran, assigned to the Fontana Station,” stated Sheriff John McMahon. “He is currently in critical but stable condition, being treated at a Las Vegas area hospital. I want to thank everyone who came to Brad’s aid. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” continued McMahon. This GoFundMe account was setup by a family friend: https://www.gofundme.com/powers-assitance-fund. This account has not been confirmed as of yet.
Ontario Police Officer and former Eastvale resident, Michael Gracia, was shot in the head, but miraculously survived. He was taken to surgery, along with his girlfriend and mother of his child, Summer. They recently had a daughter together. A recent report states that Michael and Summer have been released from the hospital and Michael was transported to a rehabilitation center for additional treatment. A GoFundMe account was created by a friend who is raising money for medical bills and general bills: https://www.gofundme.com/michael-gracia-and-summer. This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Rick Uribe of Chino was also injured: shot twice in the stomach on the right and left side. An update stated he is currently on a breathing machine to help stabilize his body but will hopefully be removed in the next 24 hours, starting his long road to recovery. This GoFundMe account was setup by Rick’s daughter to help pay for bills as her dad recovers: https://www.gofundme.com/x8yht-ricks-road-to-recovery. This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Jason McMillian is another local resident that was shot. He is a Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy, a father, and a fiancé. Jason and his fiancé Fiorella were both injured but are improving. Jason has a long recovery ahead so a GoFundMe was setup to cover the costs of his medical bills: https://www.gofundme.com/jason-mcmillan This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Rocky Palermo, of Diamond Bar, was shot in the back at the festival. Since doctors thought surgery would be too risky, he has to live with shrapnel in his back forever. He was recently released from the hospital and a GoFundMe account was setup to help with medical expenses not covered by insurance: https://www.gofundme.com/rocky-palermo-medical-fund. This account has been confirmed as legitimate.
Many local members of the community attended the event but thankfully, weren’t physically harmed.
Eastvale resident, Brittany Calderon, described her experience at the concert: “I was there listening to Jason Aldean. About 4 songs in, we heard noise that sounded like fireworks. We thought nothing of it, so the show went on and everyone stayed calm. A few seconds later, we heard the noise again and this time we knew they were gunshots. We ran as fast as we could to the nearest exit. There was a mob of hundreds of people running for their lives while the gunshots were going nonstop. My friend and I found a “safe spot” across the street behind a big rig and as we as well as maybe 15 others thought we were safe, we heard more gunshots and they sounded really close to us so we ran and ran and ran. I don’t recall everything, but I jumped a fence, hid in an apartment complex, in a construction that was pitch black, a mob of us broke through a glass door, then ran to the Hooters Hotel. We all hid in their restaurant where I came across a young woman who had been shot on her arm and leg. (She was literally right next to me.) During this whole incident I had been so calm, up until I got into Hooters. I absolutely lost it. That was when I decided to call my mom to tell her what was happening. Someway somehow, we got out of the hotel and had a random man give us and as two others a ride away from the strip.”
Calderon describes how she felt when she returned home, “No injuries at all, just very mentally traumatized at the moment. This event was absolute devastating. I did not think I was going to make it but here I am.”
Pastor Mark Lee of VantagePoint Church shares the experience that Eastvale resident, Adam De Corte had. De Corte is the church’s Pastor of Hospitality and he said, “We didn’t know what was going on. All we heard was pop, pop, pop until finally we realized that it wasn’t fireworks. People were dying. It’s one thing to talk or read of evil. It was something completely different to be caught right in the middle of it. I didn’t know what to do.” Lee’s Facebook post continued as he talked about the three things he can do for Las Vegas: pray for those involved, refuse to lose hope, and fight evil with good.
Local resident, Jana Elizabeth, wanted to help the community members affected by this tragedy. She is a Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in grief and loss counseling and posted the following message on various Eastvale Facebook groups: “I would like to offer my services pro bono for up to four sessions to anyone who has been affected by the incidents in Las Vegas. I can be contacted at 909-248-3671. Prayers to all those affected by this heinous crime.”
Avery Centre Counseling group also offered free counseling group sessions via Eastvale Facebook groups. “Free group sessions the rest of the week to help those affected by this tragedy. Please contact http://www.averycentre.com or on Facebook: The Avery Centre. 909-597-2226. We’re here for you!”
An Eastvale Candlelight Vigil will also take place for Las Vegas Victims on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. The vigil will be held in the Eleanor Roosevelt High School front parking lot to honor those impacted by this tragic event.
“This is a tremendous loss for our community,” Mayor Joe Tessari said about the event in a recent statement. “I think all of us are aware of someone in the city who was either taken from us, injured or present when this horrific crime occurred. It’s time for us to, again, give our love and support to those who have been directly affected by this tragedy.” Tessari continued by saying “one of the characteristics I love most about Eastvale is how we come together to lift up members of our community in times of crisis.”
Corona Fire Evacuees Allowed To Return to Homes
By Anthony Saude
Inland Empire – Firefighters from Riverside and Orange counties are battling a brush fire that began Monday afternoon on the shoulder of the eastbound 91 Freeway near the Riverside-Orange county line. After four days of battling the fire, heat and wind in the hills above a Corona neighborhood the fire officials have increased the containment report to 45% as of Thursday morning.
Authorities received a report of the fire shortly before 1 pm on September 24 that a fire was burning in east Anaheim just west of the Green River Road exit. About 1900 firefighters, police and personnel have been attacking the wind-driven flames with hoses ont the ground and dropping water from aircraft overhead. The over 1500 residents that were evacuated in the Corona area have been cleared to return to their homes as of September 26. Coronits, John Adams, Prado View, Eisenhower and Franklin elementary schools; and Cesar Cahavez Academy and Citrus Hills Intermediate School of CNUSD are still closed as of Wednesday.
Firefighters are continuing to build and reinforce the fire line, mop up hot spots and patrol the fire perimeter”, all according to a news release from the Orange County Fire Authority. Even though the fire hasn’t gotten any larger they have fire authorities have not updated to full containment. Historically until there is a physical line, some sort of break that will keep the fire from spreading has been built all around the fire. Firefighters would prefer to err on the side of caution before claiming full containment.
There haven’t been any injuries reported to date due to the fire and only one home was damaged and the trailer of a semi-truck was destroyed.
Although their neighborhoods were burning and the future of their homes were uncertain the residents had nothing but praises for the hard work and diligence the firefighters and all personnel responsible for their protection. Fire trucks in almost every driveway to protect the homes, dozens were saved thanks to the efforts of these community heroes. A unified command was composed of the Anaheim, Corona, and Los Angeles County fire departments, the OCFA, U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire.
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors declared a local emergency Tuesday for the Canyon Fire that order will increases stat and federal assistance in the firefight. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
https://www.coronaca.gov/government/departments-divisions/fire-department/canyon-fire-update will give you current updates about the fire and Corona roads and school information.
Facebook activated its “safety check” feature for users in the vicinity of the fire as a way to “check on friends or mark yourself safe,” according to the social media platform.

How to Optimize Your Home Office
By StatePoint
The old 9-to-5 isn’t what it used to be. As more companies embrace telecommuting, a growing number of employees are finding that even in the professional realm, there’s no place like home.
Here’s how to set up a home office for success.
• Commission floor plans. It’s a good idea to have plans drawn up by an architect. Knowing your exact square footage has tax-savings implications: If your home office is your principal workplace, you may qualify for a home office tax deduction (for what the IRS calls “business use of your home”) based on the overall area of that space. Plus, an architect may be able to see beyond walls to find potential spatial configurations you might not have considered.
• Define your workspace. Working from home may be an escape from the monotony of cubicle land, but it’s still important to define your workspace. If it’s not possible to turn an existing room into your office, consider using an uncluttered portion of your basement, attic or garage. A tax deduction applies only to space used exclusively as a home office, so simply putting a desk in your living room doesn’t make you eligible, nor will it prevent distractions.
• Get comfortable. Don’t just grab an extra dining room chair. Chair designs have improved thanks to ergonomic research over the last half century. Choose one that will keep your posture vertical and your mind sharp.
• Get lit. Ideally, your home office will have at least one window, but also invest in a swing-arm desk lamp to provide ample illumination for concentrated tasks.
• Clear clutter. Avoid toppling stacks of documents and make the recycling bin your new best friend. A small filing cabinet should be able to hold all your records, and many home furnishings can be repurposed if a filing cabinet feels too corporate.
• Grow something. Not only are there health benefits associated with keeping plants indoors, they’ll be there when you need to take a break. A little gentle pruning can prove meditative, and can be a good way to refocus.
• Keep a schedule. Online newsfeeds and day-to-day housework can be distracting. Approach working at home with the same level of professionalism you’d bring to an office setting. Display a clock and wall calendar for visual reminders of deadlines.
• Communicate. Responding promptly to emails and calls lets co-workers know that you’re reliable. Substitute face-to-face time with FaceTime (or another video-enabled communication service). Thanks to such technology, you can share space with co-workers a continent away.
• Take breaks. Anyone familiar with water cooler chatter knows that offices are highly social. That’s an aspect of your day that can feel like it’s missing. So step outside every few hours; wave to your neighbor or walk to a coffee shop.

Dreaming Dreams
By Pastor Rob Norris
So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.
Galatians 6:10
I think one of the greatest needs in the Christian community is for individual men and women to dream some dreams about how they can use their talents to impact people’s lives for Christ.
Let me tell you about a family that is making a difference. A small family ministry called Standing with Hope provides prosthetic limbs for below-the-knee amputees, not only in the United States, but also in Ghana, Africa.
The process of adding “skin” covering to make a prosthetic look real can cost thousands of dollars—far too costly for an outreach whose goal is to help as many people as possible be able to walk again. That’s where the family’s 15-year-old son, Grayson Rosenberger, comes in. While noodling over an entry idea for a nationwide science contest, Grayson came across one of his mom’s old, discarded prosthetic legs. He found that by wrapping it in a very common household item, he could give the mechanical limb a realistic shape.
His inexpensive solution? Bubble wrap.
Total cost for application? About one dollar.
No, it doesn’t look like skin. But with the right hose or stockings, the prosthetic leg can be made to look real. And for poverty-stricken adults and children in Africa who are often ostracized and teased for the primitive, bare-bones appearance of a fake leg, this is a confidence-creating alternative.
Bubble wrap. Who’d have thought?
Could it be that there’s a right-under-your-nose opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives—right where you are? Could it be that, if you slowed down and set your mind on seeking God for a way you could really serve Him, He might lay out an idea that’s so simple, you’ll be shocked you didn’t think of it earlier?
Just think. Bubble wrap.
Live IT
Every person and every couple has an assignment from God—a ministry. What’s yours? If you can’t articulate your ministry, plan a time when you can begin to pray and think together.
Pray
Express your availability to God, and ask Him to show you the best way to serve.
Meeting @ 10:00 at River Heights Intermediate School 7227 Scholar Way, Eastvale CA.
Trusting and believing with you.
