On June 3, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to a call of grand theft at the 2100 block of Hamner Ave in Norco.  The suspect fled the scene to a residence in the 2000 block of Mountain Ave., in Norco.

“Entry was made to the residence and the subject was apprehended inside the residence,” according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner’s office.  The suspect was later identified as Rafael Murrillo Quezada, 21 of San Bernardino.  Quezada was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.  The property and currency that was stolen from the residence was recovered.

Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is encouraged to contact Deputy Monzon at (951) 270-5673

INCIDENT: Sexual Assault Investigation

WHEN: June 20, 2019

WHERE: John F. Kennedy Middle College High School, Norco

A May 2019 investigation led to the recent arrest of Kyle Kammers, 33 of Riverside, who was a school employee at John F. Kennedy High School.  The investigation began in May 2019 when school administrators from the Corona-Norco Unified School District informed law enforcement of a possible inappropriate relationship between Kammers and a seventeen-year-old female student.

Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Investigators determined that Kammers and the student first interacted with each other at the school and communicated through text messaging, along with other social media platforms. “During some of their interactions, it was alleged Kammers started a sexual relationship with the student and received multiple inappropriate photographs of the minor,” according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office.

On June 20, a search warrant was served at Kammers residence, located in the 3300 block of July Drive, and Kammers was taken into custody.  Kammers was booked and transported into the Riverside County Jail for sexual assault against a minor, in addition to various crimes.

However, this is still an active investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is encouraged to contact Investigator Patrick at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 955-9234. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.

Eastvale Hamner Place Breaks Ground

The above layout is the expectation of Eastvale’s newest Shop-Dine-Stay destination, Hamner Place.

Staff Reports

Eastvale– On Friday, July 12, the City celebrated the Groundbreaking of Hamner Place, Eastvale’s newest Shop-Dine-Stay destination.  Hamner Place will be located off Hamner Avenue and Schleisman Road.

“The City of Eastvale is committed to enhancing the quality of life for Eastvale residents by creating places for people to connect and have community.  Hamner Place will do just that, while elevating Eastvale and putting our city on the map!” stated City officials.

Over the years, Eastvale residents have suggested multiple dining choices and options they would like to see in the City of Eastvale. Therefore, this past year, the City surveyed all their restaurants to identify what type of dining options were missing.

“We also conducted a Restaurant Feedback Questionnaire to better understand the community’s ideas on future development of restaurants in our community,” stated Olivia Applegate, Public Information Officer, in a news release.

“It was important to the City of Eastvale that residents help lead us in the right direction as we focus on recruitment and attraction as part of Economic Development,” she added.

Since then, city officials have been diligently trying to identify how to elevate dining experiences in Eastvale.  City officials have met with restaurateurs and have created a Restaurant Ad-Hoc committee in an effort to reach this goal.

In result, the following establishments have been determined as the best additions to Hamner Place: Heroes Restaurant & Brewery, Tony’s Chop House, Starbucks, and Staybridge Suites by IHG.

Heroes Restaurant and Brewery is a family restaurant that serves great American food and quality hand craft beers.  They are expected to open in summer of 2020.

In addition, Tony’s Chop House is a brand new concept created by The Meat Cellar, and will be completely unique to Eastvale.  Tony’s Chop House will feature all of the amazing steaks and chops that The Meat Cellar offers but will have an elevated ambiance and a variety of added menu items.

Lastly, Eastvale’s very first hotel, Staybridge Suites by IHG, will open in Hamner Place in 2021. Staybridge Suites is a 4.5 star, 120-room hotel that features a rooftop bar, conference and event center, pool with cabanas, and is the only hotel with vegan food options in the Inland Empire.

Hamner Place is expected to bring in more jobs, sales tax revenue, and transient occupancy tax (TOT) to the city.  Since TOT is the tax that hotel guests pay during their hotel night stays, the city of Eastvale will see these TOT funds for the first time after Staybridge Suites opens.

In addition, to help lower the traffic into the City, the Hamner Avenue Bridge Widening project will begin after the completion of the Limonite Avenue I-15 Interchange Project, which is expected to be completed by November 2019.  The Hamner Avenue Bridge will consist of three lanes, north and south directions, which will be plenty of room for travelers to reach Hamner Place.

“We want to thank Lewis Companies and Retail Centers for their vision for Hamner Place.  They are the definition of turning challenges into opportunities and a part of making the impossible, possible,” stated a City news release.

“Stay tuned for more exciting news regarding dining and entertainment experiences coming to Eastvale!”

No Shots Fired At Picnic in the Park

Staff Reports

City clarifies that no shots were fired at annual Picnic in the Park.

Eastvale – The 15th Annual Picnic in the Park was an eventful day that took place from June 28 to June 30 at the Eastvale Community Park.

The three-day celebration welcomed a summer season of non-stop fun in Eastvale, which was held by JCSD.  The event included carnival rides, games, food and craft vendors, and a marvelous fireworks display.  In addition, there was a Salsa Making Contest judged by Mayor Rigby and Councilwoman Yow.

However, there were many rumors about an incident that happened during the event.  On June 29, social media groups filled with residents speculating about an incident that took place at the Picnic in the Park.  The City of Eastvale issued a statement on their Facebook page stating the following: “a fight took place and one of the individuals had a pellet gun. NO shots were fired and there were minor injuries only. Two suspects were subsequently arrested.”

The City of Eastvale wanted to clarify the correct information to the community and they also ensured that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would remain onsite through the duration of Picnic in the Park, ensuring the “event is safe and enjoyable for all.”

The clarification provided a peace of mind for Eastvale residents and they expressed their appreciation.  The rest of the event was enjoyable and safe for the community.  Until next year, Eastvale!

Fun Ways to Keep Kids’ Minds Active in Summer

By Statepoint

A vacation from school is no excuse for a vacation from thinking. Not only can learning be made fun, but you can avoid a rusty return to school in the fall by keeping kids’ minds active all summer long.

Here are a few fun ways to make thinking and learning a priority, while not detracting from the fun of summer days:

• Make the Most of a Trip: From the lifecycle of local wildlife to the accomplishments of a great figure hailing from your destination, there is always an opportunity to learn about science, art, history and more on a trip out of town. Whether you are going on a beach getaway or visiting a major city, ask your kids to research the destination before departure. Not only will this help add meaning to the trip, it’s a fun way for kids to stay intellectually occupied. Then, once you are there, look for educational opportunities like museums, historic sites and guided nature walks.

• Learn an Instrument: The summer vacation is the perfect time to delve into the world of music. And new technologies can make the process of learning enjoyable and exciting, as well as help beginners learn to play at their own pace. For example, the CT-X700, a portable keyboard with features that are tailored to casual or beginning players, comes with hundreds of built-in rhythms that span both time and the globe. Young musicians can learn not only how to play an instrument, but also get acquainted with the history of music. The Step-Up Lesson system, which displays proper fingering and notation, is a great way to easily learn songs, while its six-track recorder can quickly capture sudden inspiration.

• Play: Whether kids are playing a formal team sport or just going outside and running around, staying active is good for the brain. Indeed, evidence supports that exercise can make people more creative, improve concentration and boost memory. Take advantage of the season and hit up the pool, baseball diamond, playground and more.

• Puzzle it Out: Use new tech like ClassPad.net, to give kids the functionality necessary to tackle any math puzzle — from geometry to graphing to statistics and beyond. A free, all-in-one web-based mathematics creation and discovery resource, kids can use it to catch up this summer or work ahead.

With so many ways to make learning fun, you can avoid brain drain in your household this summer for a smoother transition back to school in the fall.

4 Ways to Get Fit as a Family

By Statepoint

One of the keys to encouraging children to develop health habits early is to make fitness a priority in the home.

The great news is there are a variety of ways to lead an active lifestyle that are suitable for the whole family, including kids of all ages.

Let these four creative ideas help you turn each day into an opportunity to get fit and have fun as a family. As with any workout, it’s important to have the proper gear, and that starts with footwear. Each exercise is paired with a suggestion of what to consider when it’s time to choose the right shoe.

  1. Visit a playground: Choose your own adventure, taking note of your favorite parks and playgrounds and their features, such as skate parks, swings, slides and climbing walls.

Shoes to try: Vans all have a variety of “updated classic” styles available in men, women and children’s sizing in on-trend colors, such as blush, yellow and white. This ensures that everyone can find a pair that reflects their personalities, while also providing necessary support.

2. Learn a new sport: From tennis to golf to touch football, there are a variety of ways to experience healthy activities as a group.

Shoe to try: The Adidas Lite Racer features a Cloudfoam EVA midsole to guide your foot when enjoying high-impact sports, such as running or tennis.

3. Participate in a charity run: Whether you’re a seasoned runner or have just signed up for your first 5K, many fundraising races are designed to accommodate the whole family. For younger children, search for events that allow baby strollers or that host a separate Fun Run for the kids.

Shoe to try: Nike offers the Flex Experience, which features lightweight synthetic overlays for a great fit and feel in both adult and children’s sizing.

4. Get outdoors: Explore a new hiking trail to make memories and enjoy stunning scenery. Cater to all family members by choosing the length and level of difficulty of the hike.

Shoes to try: Built to go off-roading, ASICS hiking shoes features reversed lugs on the outsole to ensure a dependable grip both uphill and downhill.

New footwear can help each member of the family get motivated to meet fitness goals and try new activities. For a one-stop-shopping experience and shoe trends for families, visit the Athletic Shop at Rack Room Shoes in stores or online at http://www.rackroomshoes.com/athleticshop.

Exercise shouldn’t be a chore. With new gear, a great attitude and a sense of adventure, getting fit as a family will be fun.

3 Ways to Make the Most of Summer Produce

Always clean fruits and vegetables to remove pesticides, wax and soil.

By Statepoint

Summer can be all too fleeting, but one of the best ways to ensure you make the most of the season is by enjoying the generous harvest of fruits and vegetables it brings.

Here are three simple ways to make the most of summer produce:

Get Produce at Its Peak

Produce tastes best when enjoyed during its peak season. Before shopping, check produce guides to see what’s at its peak near you. A few easy ways to be sure you’re getting the cream of the crop are to join a Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) group, visit a farmer’s market and to simply look for the local label at your supermarket. In a culinary rut? Because CSA members don’t always have the option of selecting the exact items they receive, a subscription is a particularly good idea for those with adventurous spirits looking to expand their horizons.

Be Safe

In your efforts to feed your family nutritious produce this summer, be mindful that many fruits and vegetables contain contaminants like pesticides, wax and soil on their outer layer. While independent studies show that washing produce with water or bleach solution still leaves behind large traces of pesticides, there is now a better way to protect your family.

With just a spray and rinse, Arm & Hammer’s Fruit & Vegetable Wash safely eliminates more than 90 percent of residue from the commonly used pesticide thiabendazole, when used as directed — four times better than water alone. Made with pure and simple ingredients like Arm & Hammer baking soda, water, salt and lemon oil; and free of harsh chemicals, it’s easy to stock your kitchen with it and make it a part of meal prep. For more information, as well as cleaning tips, visit armandhammercleans.com.

Use it Up

Don’t let any produce go to waste. Here are five fun uses for fruit and vegetables:

• Fruit popsicles: Chop fruit into small chunks and mix with juice and even a bit of honey. Pour the mixture into a popsicle mold and freeze. You’ll have a delicious, healthful snack for later.

• Fruit or veggie kebabs: The grill is not just for burgers and dogs. Make veggie skewers using mushrooms, zucchini, green peppers and onions. For a light dessert, grill pears and peaches to be eaten on their own or topped with a bit of ice cream.

• Pesto: Go beyond the classic basil recipe to get creative with your pesto sauces. From cilantro to spinach to mint, many of summer’s richest green herbs and vegetables make great stand-ins.

• Cold soups: The weather may be hot, but that doesn’t mean you need to put soup on the back burner — or any burner at all. From gazpacho to borscht served chilled, you can cool down with soup this summer.

• Preserves: Certain fruits — such as strawberries — can technically be found any time of year, but are absolutely unparalleled in summer. Capture that magic for the months ahead by turning your favorite fruits into jams.

5 Delicious Low-Carb Recipes Perfect for a Cookout

By Statepoint

Food on the grill, carb-loaded side dishes and high-sugar desserts are at the center of most seasonal cookouts. But this doesn’t mean you need to avoid those countless neighborhood barbecues to ensure you stay on track with your healthy lifestyle.

Courtney McCormick, manager of Clinical Research & Nutrition for South Beach Diet, recommends these five lower-carb recipes that are great to bring along to any cookout.

• Shredded Chicken Chili: Just toss some chicken, beans, tomatoes and a combination of chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and oregano in your slow cooker and let that magic machine do all the work. Six hours later, you’ll have perfectly cooked chicken and plenty of flavorful fixings for fewer calories than a chicken prepared in a sugary or cheesy sauce.

• Avocado Tuna Sandwiches: Mix lemon juice, avocado, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper in a small bowl and add canned tuna fish. Scoop onto a slice of whole grain bread with arugula, sliced cucumbers and red onions and you’ve got yourself a delicious sandwich to eat in place of that hamburger.

• Skinny Shrimp Fajitas: You won’t miss the tortilla with this recipe! Combine shrimp, onion, bell pepper, olive oil and dry fajita spices such as chili powder, garlic, onion, cumin and paprika in a large bowl. Pour into a veggie basket or place on skewers and let the grill do the work for you.

• Pesto Cilantro Dip: Bake walnuts at 275 degrees until golden brown, then chop cilantro, garlic, and walnuts in a food processor for about 25 seconds. With the machine running, pour olive oil in a steady stream. Add sour cream, lemon juice and salt. Pulse a few times to combine and you’re done! Serve with fresh veggies.

“This recipe is quick and simple,” says McCormick. “It contains minimal ingredients and it is packed with healthy fats. Plus, it keeps five days in the refrigerator and freezes for up to a month.”

• South Beach Coleslaw: Coleslaw is a BBQ staple and this recipe for a lighter version of it is easy as 1-2-3! Whisk together mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, celery seed and a sugar substitute. Add cabbage and toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper and refrigerate until ready to serve.

For more details on these recipes and other great tips and tricks to lose weight and live healthier, visit South Beach Diet’s website The Palm at palm.southbeachdiet.com/cookout-low-carb-recipes.

Remember, cookouts don’t need to wreak havoc on your healthy diet. By making some simple swaps and choosing healthier options, you’ll stay on track while still enjoying time outdoors with family and friends.

5 Warm Weather Weight Loss Blunders to Avoid

Make favorite drinks healthier with simple ingredient swaps, says Julie Chrisley.

By Statepoint

Along with warm weather comes picnics, cookouts and other parties that can take a toll on your healthy lifestyle.

To help you stay on track while you’re enjoying the sunshine and good times, Courtney McCormick, manager, Clinical Research and Nutrition at Nutrisystem, is sharing the top five weight loss blunders people tend to make this time of year and simple tips for avoiding them.

• Blunder 1: Crash dieting: The thought of putting on a swimsuit may entice you to crash diet. Crash diets are not only unhealthy, they tend to slow metabolism, making it difficult for you to drop more than just a few pounds. Also, any weight you lose short-term will be regained as soon as you resume eating normally. It’s best to stick with your healthy lifestyle year-round. Have a bad day? That’s okay. Vow to get back on track the next day.

• Blunder 2: Ordering smoothies and frapps: When the weather turns hot, a blended drink can seem like an ideal morning or afternoon pick-me-up. However, those from coffee shops and convenience stores tend to be loaded with sugar and fat. A 16-ounce serving may have more than 200 calories and 50 grams of sugar. Quench cravings by ordering unsweetened or lightly sweetened iced coffee or tea or opt for a protein shake.

“Being from the south, I love my sweet tea. To be sure I don’t overdo it on the sugar, I will use a little bit of honey as a sweetener instead,” said Julie Chrisley, Nutrisystem ambassador.

• Blunder 3: Not watching alcohol intake: Alcoholic beverages can be very refreshing in warm weather, but even a light beer or white wine is more than 100 calories, and today’s popular sweet drinks like hard cider and wine coolers have as many 180 calories each. To avoid over-indulging, alternate one or two drinks with fizzy seltzer over ice and a lime wedge.

• Blunder 4: Perspiring to lose: When you exercise in the heat, you may think you can feel the pounds melting off with each bead of sweat. And if you weigh yourself right before and after a workout, you may see a difference. The problem is as soon as you replace the fluids you’ve sweated out, you’ll see on the scale that you’ve lost little, if any, weight. Your best bet is to maintain a steady activity level every day so that you get at least 150 minutes of movement a week. Regular activity keeps your metabolism burning continually, even if you’re just walking inside an air-conditioned mall.

• Blunder 5: Loading plates with BBQ favorites: Backyard barbecues bring out many favorite classics, like potato salad and coleslaw. While those dishes start with healthful vegetables, they get weighed down with excessive saturated fats from mayonnaise and sour cream. What’s more, the loads of sugar in popular barbecue sauces can heap calories on a lean chicken breast. To manage intake, avoid creamy salads and dip chicken in BBQ sauce instead of slathering it on before grilling.

To overcome the most common warm weather weight loss blunders, it’s best to know what they are, as well has have go-to strategies to avoid them.

Autism Mom: You are Never Alone

Columnist Melody Kramer, BKA: Autism Mom

By Melody Kramer

Being a mom, autism mom or not, is tough. Our lives get so consumed with our children’s activities. Some have sports, others like me may have therapy (speech, OT and so on).  It can get overwhelming and consume so much time.

We as moms look around, and there are moms everywhere. So why at times do we feel alone?  We are so busy with kids here and there we miss the mark and don’t connect.  That feeling of loneliness can fester inside to where we feel defeated, sad and all alone at times.  We have to remember God is just a prayer away. We are never alone as long as we have God by our side. I have heard if God feels far away, it’s not Him that moved.   God is always watching us, is there for us and here to comfort us.  We need to keep moving forward and trusting the Lord above that he’s with us.  He sends us angels that we do call friends, though there are times when one feels alone running around, doing errands rushing off kids and picking up kids.   All we have to do is look to the heavens and know that no matter where we are or what we do we are never alone.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

5 Reasons Kids Should Play Outside More

By Statepoint

Whether it’s dance lessons, computer projects, art class or yoga, kids these days are busy bees. And while such activities are enriching and fun, experts say that many kids aren’t spending enough time doing something much simpler and every bit as important as structured programming: playing outdoors.

“Finding time for the kids to play outside can be such a challenge for parents,” says Keri Wilmot, a pediatric occupational therapist and an expert contributor to TheGeniusofPlay.org. “As a parent I worry about ‘stranger danger’ or whether my kids will be able to navigate social issues on their own. Without spontaneity, playtime has lost some of it’s fun.”

Outdoor play is necessary for healthy child development, according to The Genius of Play. The initiative, whose mission is to raise awareness about the importance of play and help parents make play a critical part of raising their kids, is sharing five benefits of unstructured outdoor playtime:

• Physical Development: Research has shown that physically active kids tend to be leaner and healthier, while an inactive childhood can lead to a sedentary (and likely unhealthy) lifestyle in adulthood. Furthermore, physical play builds gross and fine motor skills necessary for success in school and beyond. Hanging from the monkey bars, for instance, helps kids develop the hand muscles needed to grip a pencil.

• Risk-Taking: Through outdoor play, children are given the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and try new things. While taking risks won’t always lead to success on the first try, moments like a first bike ride without training wheels, or the first trip down the big slide in the playground, are critical for building the confidence and resilience needed to pursue a future career, start a business, or handle life’s many challenges.

• Social Skills: Childhood games played outdoors can help build social skills and teach kids to follow directions. From games as simple as tag, to those with more complicated rules, like “Kick the Can,” “Capture the Flag,” and sports like soccer and basketball, communication, teamwork and other important social skills are developed during outdoor play.

• Problem Solving: Children’s imaginations are often stimulated by the world around them. Being outside widens their horizons and can encourage kids to tap into their creativity in order to come up with solutions to challenges, such as learning how to build a sandcastle or figuring out how to climb up a jungle gym.

• Reducing Stress: So much outdoor play involves physical activity, thrilling moments and a sense of freedom, all of which can boost endorphins, helping to lower stress levels and reduce anxiety and depression. Interestingly, simply touching dirt when creating mud pies or digging for worms can be beneficial. According to a Bristol University study, certain types of “friendly” bacteria in soil have been found to activate the group of neurons that produce serotonin, which contributes to a feeling of well-being and happiness. So, don’t be afraid to let your kids get a bit dirty out there!

Playtime is essential for children. To promote health, happiness and confidence, be sure some of it is spent outdoors.

Did You Know: What to Do if Your Car is Damaged by a Pothole

With streets sizzling under the summer sun, drivers should be mindful that warmer temperatures also mean potholes.

There are nearly 56 million potholes in the U.S., according to estimates from the Harpers Index Road Information Program — that’s eight potholes per mile of paved road. We’ve all seen drivers dodging potholes, but often there’s no way to avoid them and cars pay the price. So, what should you do if a big pothole damages your car? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but below is some information to help you navigate the situation.

Does car insurance cover pothole damage? The good news — yes, your auto insurance does cover pothole damage — as long as you have collision coverage. Potholes typically damage not only tires and wheels, but also suspension systems, exhaust systems and even the body of the car, so repair costs can vary from a couple hundred dollars to more than a thousand.

“Pothole damage can put a big hole in your wallet,” says Jon Bloom, vice president, personal auto, Erie Insurance. “It’s not always clear whether you should file a claim and that’s where your agent comes in. They’ll help you decide the next steps. For example, is the cost lower than the deductible? Will filing a claim affect your premium? Your agent is your trusted source to weigh the pros and cons.”

Will the city or municipality pay to fix pothole damage? Many, but not all, cities and towns let you file a pothole claim if your car sustains damage from a pothole on a city roadway. The process varies, so check with your city’s road department to see if it accepts claims. Keep in mind there’s no guarantee you’ll receive payment for damages, and they can have a cap. Plus, getting reimbursed can be a lengthy process.

Regardless of how you recoup damages, always make sure to document everything. Take a photo of the pothole, note the date and time of the incident, and get estimates from at least two mechanics. And, there’s always the option of paying out of pocket if the costs are minimal.

Additionally, there are simple steps you can take to prevent major damage. The best advice is to stay alert to avoid hitting potholes in the first place. You should also keep your tires inflated to the proper air pressure. And, if you have to drive over a pothole, slow down, release the brakes and straighten the steering wheel.

Classic Ways to Have Fun & Stay Cool this Summer

Courtesy: StatePoint
Nothing says summer fun more than relaxing on a float at a pool, lake or beach.

By Statepoint

Downtime sounds fairly straightforward, right? Unfortunately, busy schedules often prevent many families from spending enough time together simply relaxing and having fun.

With an overwhelming 96 percent of people believing it’s important to have downtime together as a family, according to research from Mintel Trends, you may be looking for some ways to do just that this summer.

Check out these great ideas for the warm weather months ahead:

Picnic Time

Sunny day? A picnic can be extremely easy to prep on a moment’s notice. Pack some blankets on which to spread out, as well as lunch — which can be as simple as sandwiches, fruits, veggie sticks and dips. Bring along lawn games, such as a croquet, badminton or bocce set, or keep things simple with a couple of frisbees or a soccer ball. Then, find a shady spot in a nearby park to enjoy the afternoon. Don’t forget to take along some bags, in case there are no garbage cans around. You’ll want to leave the area as pristine as you found it.

Hit the Pool, Lake or Beach

Nothing says summer fun more than relaxing or splashing around at the pool, lake or beach on a hot day. And this is one activity that doesn’t require a lot of advance planning; just grab some SPF and a few pool floats and you’re ready to go. Easy to pack and inflate, the latest novelty pool floats from Intex are the perfect accessory to look cool while staying cool in the sun. Durable and trendy floats for all ages like the Angel Wings Mat, a Sit N Float lounger, Realistic Sea Turtle Ride On, even a juicy Strawberry Island or Watermelon Island, are available at select online, big box and specialty retailers. Just don’t forget to pack the camera because there will be plenty of picture-perfect selfies for any Instagram post!

Baseball, Up Close

Root, root, root for the home team at a minor league baseball game, where there are no bad seats and fans have more chances to interact with the players, pose with the mascot and even round the bases. A great activity for a weekend or even a family fun night mid-week, minor league baseball games are affordable, fun and local.

When the kids are out of school and the days are long, use all that downtime to your advantage, finding classic ways to unwind, reconnect and have fun.

Sheriff’s Fourth of July 2019 Fireworks Enforcement Operation

Eastvale- In response to the illegal use of fireworks, the Eastvale Police Department, in conjunction with City of Eastvale Code Enforcement, Riverside County Fire, and Riverside County Animal Control, developed response plans to educate the public and to enforce all laws related to the illegal use and possession of fireworks within the city limits.

Beginning in June 2019, the Eastvale Police Department launched an educational campaign to curtail the use of illegal fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.  This campaign included video Public Service Announcements, Social Media Outreach, and press releases.  The goal was to decrease calls for service, injuries to the public, and property damage caused by the illegal use of fireworks.

On July 4, 2019, these agencies participated in a proactive operation to combat the illegal use of fireworks in the City of Eastvale.  This operation began on 4th of July at 17:00 PM and ended on July 5, 2019, at 2:00 AM.

  • Deputies responded to 31 calls for service related to fireworks that were received through the Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center and the Riverside Sheriff’s Department’s on-line reporting site.
  • A total of 14 citations were given to subjects in violation of the Eastvale Municipal Code which prohibits the possession and discharging of fireworks within the city limits.
  • Approximately 100 pounds of unused fireworks were confiscated and collected by the Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team for destruction.

The Eastvale Police Department would like to remind everyone that fireworks are illegal in Riverside County and the City of Eastvale.  We would also like to encourage the reporting of the illegal use and possession of fireworks by calling our Sheriff’s Dispatch Center at 951-800-950-2444 or through our online reporting on the Sheriff’s Department webpage.
