When Joan was diagnosed with cancer they thought they caught it pretty early. But six weeks into the diagnosis, she was notified that chemo and radiation treatments were challenges she had to endure. Deep inside he knew that worry and stress would not help the situation, but the worry about her teenage daughter had her wondering what will happen next. So as she sits there, alone, afraid, and cold, she knows she’ll be waiitng for hours. She begins to cry. Joan doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t have any family and her friends have their own lives and can’t be around all the time. It all seemed so hopeless and she felt so alone. Then she met Sheila Romanski. A survivor who has dedicated her life to people like Joan.

Sheila and her team at Crystal Roses Inc, brought Joan a Comfort Tote filled with things they know she will need for this journey that she couldn’t know she needed. Most importantly they brought love, prayer, comfort and friendship along with the goodies in the bag. Sheila Romanski is self admitted walking and talking miracle a four time cancer survivor, she is the founder of Crystal Roses Inc., a non profit 501 3 c corporation Corona California. Joan just didn’t have that type of support system available to her. That is when Sheila saw an important need she knew how to fill for these women.

The team at Crystal Roses Inc is dedicated to making a difference and inspiring women and children by giving them hope, encouragement, love, prayer and support. Christian Radio Show Seeks to Inspire Youth with Local Male Role Models

By Anthony Chan

Anthony Saude, a talk radio host at “Men of Impakt,” has always thought of starting a positive movement to reestablish Christian values and ideals as things for youth to aspire to. Concerned about a growing trend of people rejecting traditional morals and virtues, Mr. Saude has become motivated to effect positive change in the world.

“We taught our children to look at the wrong heroes,” says Mr Saude. If we continue down this path, “we’re headed to Hell in a handbasket.” Mr. Saude believes that by showing the world good, ordinary men who do the right thing and “take care of the kids [and] treat [their] wives well,” he can inspire a new generation of Christian men who uphold the virtues of Jesus and the Bible.

By “modeling ourselves after Jesus,” we can become a “Mighty Man of Valor” just as the Bible says, says Mr. Saude. We need to “fight outside pressures to do what makes you feel good” and instead do what’s right by “following Jesus, doing the right thing, and making it known.”

Although his radio show “Men of Impakt” features men, Mr. Saude makes it clear that he does not intend to suggest that there are no “Women of Impakt” but rather it is men who should bear the responsibility of fixing a morally corrupt world. Because “women did not create sex trafficking, porn, [and] domestic violence,” it is “Men [who] screwed it up, [men who should] fix it.”

From a Bible study group at church, Mr. Saude partnered with Shawn Kelly at Hope Radio 24/7 start “Men of Impakt.” Next week, the radio talk show will feature Eric Ray, a father of three boys who has been distinguished as a positive influence to his friends at church and to the community. The feature will be part of a series titled, “Raising God’s Children in a God Challenged World” and will bring listeners a chance to learn about marriage, health, and finance from a Christian perspective.

Dr. Oscar Marin, dentist at West Covina Smiles, works with dental patients every day and has seen a substantial increase in patients with poor dental health due to bad habits and stress. In an endorsement letter, Dr. Marin points out that stress is a major contributor to poor dental health because, “people under stress tend to produce less saliva and grind their teeth more, which causes premature breakdown of tooth structure and dental work.”

Dr. Marin intends to help patients de-stress, create good habits, and improve their overall health. So he has opted to provide assistance for his patients in a comprehensive, full-body way. His vision for comprehensive healthcare is to provide for not only his patients’ dental health, but for physical health, nutritional health, and mental health. Dr. Marin created a team with a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and a therapist to make his vision for comprehensive healthcare become reality.

In terms of physicality, Dr. Marin has is working with Johnny Hudson, a personal trainer with over 20 years of experience, to bring his patients a free bootcamp training package, which will take place on the first Saturday of every month starting September 2, 2017.

The event will be held at Via Verde Park in San Dimas starting at 10 AM. The only requirement for participants is that you are an active patient of West Covina Smiles (a patient who has been seen in the last year) or you are accompanied by an active patient.

“Great teeth is linked to great health,” Dr. Marin said, “and when you tackle both issues at once you enhance your healthy on many levels. We can choose to just treat people for their dental issues or we can try to contribute to a long and healthy life. We choose the latter.”

By K.P. Sander
Ontario – Voortman’s Egg Ranch has been in the business of providing farm fresh eggs to friends and visitors to the local area for over 60 years. Originally from Bellflower, the Voortman family – who has always been in the egg ranching business – moved their operation to Ontario in 1951.
Voortman’s has a small-town farm ambiance, with the latest in technology. Their happy chickens are enjoying their newly remodeled home; and their egg-processing machine can handle about 36,000 eggs per hour at its peak. If the average bird lays one egg about every 26 hours, that equals a lot of chickens at the Voortman ranch!
Did you know that you can tell how fresh an egg is by how high the yolk stands up in the frying pan after you crack it? Voortman’s will have your over-easies standing tall. Their fresh eggs are the highest in quality, with dark, nutrient-dense yolks. You will immediately notice a difference in your cooking and baking.
Have you ever wondered how long the eggs in the grocery stores have actually been sitting around? Despite the use-by date, there is really no way to know how long ago they were produced. With Voortman’s, the eggs are selected daily, on site, and readied for you in their store.
Third-generation egg rancher, Eddie Voortman, says, “We are a local, family-owned business that provides fresh, quality products to the public.”
Customers of Voortman’s rave about their all natural, cage free eggs, touting the freshness, and great pricing. One customer said, “They make the fluffiest scrambled eggs!”
The eggs come in all sizes and colors, depending on your needs. Whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed.
Voortman’s is centrally located just minutes from Chino at 13960 Grove Avenue in Ontario (just north of Edison). You can reach Voortman’s at (909) 465-1319; and Like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Voortmans-Egg-Ranch.

14 Years Of Carpet Cleaning Experience

By Michael Armijo

Eastvale – Honesty and integrity are always a factor in business and are sought out continuously. But how some people get there is through longevity and experience. When you have all four of those elements you have no choice but to be successful in your field.

Extreme Carpet Care clients have boasted they’ve received all four of those components. Honesty, integrity, longevity and especially experience. A great reason to get your carpets cleaned at a reasonable price.

“Robert was great and did a wonderful job on the carpet in our new home,” said Daniel Radillo, who recently had his carpets cleaned in the home he bought in neighboring Jurupa. “I was budgeting for new carpet, but had to wait, but glad I did. Extreme Carpet Care saved that carpet and now I won’t need to purchase new carpet until next year, I am so thankful.”

What You DON’T See Is What You Get

Inland Empire – When Daniel started his carpet cleaning business six years ago, he had to get insurance. So he did, and he faithfully paid his premiums every month. Unfortunately, Daniel’s business was burglarized, but he had no need to worry; he was fully covered and he had never missed a payment in nearly six years.  Then Daniel found out some very disturbing news.

Daniel’s insurance company gladly filed his claim. The reports were all in order and the estimate of $16,839 was right in line with specifications. But Daniel only received a check for $3,000.  He had no idea his policy coverage for theft or fire had a limit of $3,500, with a $500 deductible.

“It’s common for a business, especially a small business, to be under-insured,” said Grace Buencamino, a longtime broker at George L. Brown Insurance. “You need a proactive agent who will periodically go over your coverage with you to ensure your business is adequately covered.”

Buencamino also points out that it’s not always the client’s fault for not knowing their policy limits.

“Sometimes a business will outgrow their coverage,” she says.  “I’ve seen businesses who thought they had adequate coverage. The business owner didn’t realize that after five years, the company had acquired more equipment, increasing their Business Property from $3,000 to $20,000. To avoid my clients being under-insured, I do an annual review of their policy. Changes in Business Property can be discovered during this review and the policy limits can be changed at very little cost.”

Buencamino also said that by working closely with the business owner, she can get a better understanding of their needs and work with them to limit their exposures. She encourages clients to contact her if they make any changes to their business that may affect their current coverage.

One advantage of consulting with a broker, they can find the best priced insurance to meet your needs, whether they are “rate driven” or “coverage driven”. A broker can shop multiple carriers and bring you the options you deserve.

If you have questions about your Business Insurance Policy, Grace Buencamino with George L. Brown Insurance Agency can be reached at (909) 973-8233 or GBuencamino@georgebrowninsurance.com.

Planes of Fame Air Museum Special Event Sat July 22

Staff Reports

CHINO-The Planes of Fame Air Museum is a treat for young and old alike.  Its collection of planes is sure to thrill aircraft aficionados and anyone interested in military history.

The Planes of Fame Air Museum was founded in 1957 by Edward Maloney.  It is the oldest independently operated aviation museum in the United States. Located at the historic Cal Aero Field in Chino, the museum is open to the public.

It is the mission of Planes of Fame Air Museum to preserve aviation history, inspire interest in aviation, educate the public, and honor aviation pioneers and veterans. The Museum sponsors regular events in the form of inspirational experiences, educational presentations, flight demonstrations, and air shows in fulfillment of this mission.

A special event, to be held on Saturday July 22, 2017, will focus on the role of aviation in the Great War – World War I. Entitled, “WWI and Early Aircraft,” the event is being presented by Planes of Fame Air Museum Docents.

One hundred years ago, the United States entered the great conflict now known as the First World War. After years of isolationism, America’s fighting forces were unprepared for the carnage that was to come. However, with their indomitable spirit, the Americans quickly adapted, overcame, and ultimately helped secure victory.
This special program will explore the events of the Great War leading up to America’s involvement and discuss American participation – from the early volunteers serving in the French Lafayette Escadrille and Lafayette Flying Corps to American Signal Corps and U.S. Naval Aviation squadrons. We’ll look at their training, their aircraft, the technologies and tactics employed, and America’s first aviation heroes who emerged from the world’s first air war. A special encore screening of the Planes of Fame Air Museum film, “Intrepid Birdmen” will be presented.
EVENT SPEAKERS: Members of the Docent team will present an overview of the Great War, provide insight into the role of aviation and the types of aircraft deployed and developed, look at the training of new aviators and discuss the many tactics and aces that resulted.
SPECIAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT! – William Wellman and “Wings”
This year also marks a milestone in cinematic history – the 90th anniversary of the Paramount Pictures smash hit film, “Wings.” Recognized still as one of the most honest and exciting portrayals of air combat and the men who flew during WWI, “Wings” was the first film to be honored with the Academy Award® for Best Picture at the 1927 Oscar® ceremony.
Joining the presentation will be William Wellman, Jr., son of the film’s director, William A. Wellman. An established actor, author, and speaker, Bill will discuss the aviation career of his father during World War I, as well as his father’s outstanding career as a Hollywood motion picture screenwriter and director.
Bill’s presentation will center around the production of “Wings,” a massive undertaking even by today’s standards. The film employed 3,500 actors, 65 pilots and 165 aircraft. It featured leading actors of the time – Charles “Buddy”  Rogers, William Arlen, and Clara Bow and introduced a young Gary Cooper in a role that launched his career. The film took a year to complete, but when it was released it turned out to be one of the most financially successful silent pictures ever.
Immediately following the presentations, the masterfully restored film, “Wings” will be shown in the Museum Theater. Come experience the film in its full glory in our intimate 45-seat air conditioned setting. Note: Seating is limited to the first 45 people. A nominal donation of $5.00 is asked to help defray the costs of license fees for the film. Popcorn and soda will be provided.
WHEN: Saturday, July 22, 2017, 10am–12 noon. Museum doors open at 9:00am.
WHERE: Planes of Fame Air Museum, 14998 Cal Aero Drive, Chino, CA 91710-9085
WHY: It is now 100 years since the Great War and it is rapidly fading from the public memory. It is the Mission of Planes of Fame Air Museum to preserve aviation history, inspire interest in aviation, educate the public, and honor aviation pioneers and veterans. The Museum sponsors regular events in the form of inspirational experiences, educational presentations, flight demonstrations, and airshows in fulfillment of this mission.

The museum collection spans the history of manned flight from the Wright Flyer of 1903 (replica) to the space age Apollo Capsule. Upcoming Living History Days will feature the Douglas SBD Dauntless on June 4, the North American P-51 Mustang on July 2, and the Vought F4U-1A Corsair on August 6.

Clark’s Nutrition

By Staff Reports

Chino- When my daughter was little, we would take her to Chuck E. Cheese every year for her birthday. Then one year I announced that rather than going to Chuck E. Cheese, we would take her to Disneyland for her very first time. She was upset and disappointed. All she had ever known was this small local pizza place ran by Chuck E., so she had no idea what was waiting for her at the “happiest place on earth.” Needless to say when she walked through the front gate at Disneyland, she “got it.” Disneyland was bigger, better, and more amazing.
I recently visited Clark’s Nutrition in Chino for the first time. It is the Disneyland of natural foods stores! For years I settled with what I knew from other stores, but after walking through the front door of Clark’s, I “got it!” Clark’s is not just bigger and better, but its one of the most amazing natural foods store I’ve ever been in.
What’s a Clarks store like? Imagine if you morphed Sprouts, Whole Foods, GNC, and Trader Joes into one store. It would be called Clarks! Clark’s has the largest selection of organic produce, supplements, and natural foods in the Inland Empire. They also have a great bulk foods section, they have grass-fed meats, a full dairy section, and the Chino location even has a juice bar! Clark’s was recently featured on a bus tour that brought other natural foods grocers from all over the world to visit Clarks in Chino. Clark’s has been told they have the largest supplement section in the United States in their Chino location. Basically, if you are looking for it, they’ve got it! I’ve also noticed that Clark’s prices are reasonable on most everything. I was surprised at the pricing since they had so much selection, I thought I would be paying for it; yet another pleasant surprise.
If that isn’t enough to get you into Clarks, they have Nutritional Consultants to help you. These Nutritional Consultants really know a lot about nutrition. Just look for the employees in the maroon shirts. They’re the Nutritional Consultants. Kyle and Joe are a couple of my favorites, but they’re all great. Clark’s has a 5-level training program that takes these Nutritional Consultants about 3 ½ years to complete. This sets them apart from everyone. Starkie Sowers, Clark’s Director of Education writes and teaches these in-house classes. Starkie says, “From the beginning, we knew we wanted to really help people educate themselves about their own health.” No one at Clarks is on commission. Starkie adds, “I’ve been with Clarks for 36 years and although the natural foods industry has grown and changed a great deal, the Clark family have always been committed to providing solid answers for customers trying to navigate their unique heath goals.” Clark’s attracts a wide variety of customers; people with food allergens, those wanting to get/remain fit, moms trying to help their family eat healthier, customers seeking holistic approaches to health and wellness, Vegans, Vegetarians…and the list goes on. Marketing Director, Mike Barnett says, “People are looking for a trusted source for their nutrition questions and Clark’s knowledgeable Nutritional Consultants are the final stop for people looking for real help.”
As a lifelong resident in the Inland Empire, I had heard of Clarks, but didn’t know where their locations are and that they’ve been around since 1972. Clarks’ is family owned and operated. It makes me feel good knowing that I am supporting a small local business rather helping shareholders make more money. All four of Clark’s locations are local: Chino, Riverside, Loma Linda, and Rancho Mirage. I am glad to finally count myself among those that “get it!” My family and I can be found at Clarks in Chino. Discover Clark’s Nutrition and stop settling for less. ■
